About the role:

The Senior Analyst plays a key role in forecasting Boston Scientific's global effective tax rate and cash tax position and translating complex tax and business developments into meaningful insights for Tax and Finance leadership.

This role offers broad exposure across the global tax organization and corporate finance, partnering with teams including Corporate FP&A, Treasury and Accounting to evaluate the tax implications of changes in business performance, acquisitions and integrations, tax planning strategies, and evolving global tax legislation.

The Senior Analyst will own significant components of the global tax forecasting process, build and analyze modeling scenarios, explain the key drivers of changes in the company's AETR and cash taxes, and help key stakeholders understand the implications of strategic alternatives.

This is an opportunity for a tax professional with a strong foundation in tax provision, compliance, or international tax to broaden their experience across multiple areas of corporate tax while developing deep expertise in forecasting, analytics, and strategic decision support. This is a highly visible role with opportunity to expand responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Organize and execute workstreams to build legal entity forecasts and calculate book tax differences to estimate the AETR and global cash tax projections for all internal, companywide planning cycles and external financial reporting.

- Analyze results to understand and to validate changes to the AETR and global cash tax projections from prior models; clearly communicate results and insights to tax and non-tax stakeholders to support management decisions.

- Partner with the functional tax teams to model changes in legislation, corporate structure, accounting methods and tax planning scenarios; analyze and share results and insights.

- Collaborate across our global finance organization to stay aware of proposed changes to the business (e.g. corporate initiatives, expansions, acquisitions, restructurings, and divestitures); create models to assess the impact of changes on the company’s AETR and global cash tax projections.

- Perform variance analyses by comparing AETR and cash forecasts to prior periods and actual results; identify key drivers, determine root causes and recommend solutions to continuously improve forecasting accuracy.

- Stay informed of the changing global tax laws affecting the company; maintain models to ensure existing AETR and cash models are complete and accurate.

- Improve how we forecast by evaluating existing processes and models to increase efficiency; propose and implement solutions to reduce cycle time; Leverage technology-based solutions and data visualization tools such as Alteryx and Tableau.

- Participate in our finance wide transformation initiative to drive systematic solutions, strengthen data and improve forecasting capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, or a related discipline

- 4+ yrs combined work experience in a multinational corporate tax department and/or public accounting

- Foundational knowledge of U.S. federal income tax concepts and ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes

- Advanced MS Excel skills and proven ability to analyze information and solve problems

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-tax stakeholders

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications:

- MSA/MST and/or CPA preferred

- Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and supply chain issues

- Prior experience with tax provision, AETR forecasting, and financial modeling

- Experience using data visualization and analytics tools such as Alteryx and Tableau

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
