Commodities Control Manager - Vice President

As a Commodities Business Control Vice President in the Markets Business Control Management team, you will spearhead the controls agenda for our commodities business. You’ll serve as the First Line of Defense, identifying control gaps, designing mitigation strategies, and partnering with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions. Your leadership will foster a culture of proactive risk management and effective change, supporting our expansion in Physical Gas, Power, Emissions, and other environmental markets. Finance & Business Management (F&BM) plays a critical role in supporting these initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

- Identify and manage operational and conduct risk related to trading financial OTC derivatives, listed futures, and physical commodities.

- Review new and amended business initiatives to ensure appropriate controls are implemented.

- Coordinate the setup of traders onto trading venues and energy platforms, and implement requirements defined by these platforms.

- Assess the end-to-end control environment and resolve control issues, developing “best practice” standards.

- Facilitate execution of Front Office supervisory controls, attestations, and exception management.

- Execute control programs such as Risk & Control Self Assessments, Risk Event Reporting, Executive Governance meetings, and Control Forums.

- Participate in projects sponsored by Business Control Managers, operating as project manager or consultant on key control initiatives.

- Prepare and present the monthly Control Dashboard and Business Control Committee updates for senior management.

- Lead and coordinate audits, control testing, and regulatory exams or inquiries in partnership with the business.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with front-office personnel, business managers, control managers, and other business-aligned functions.

- Foster dialogue and effective implementation of solutions across teams.

- Deep understanding of operational risks and controls, with ability to design, implement, and monitor effective control frameworks.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, and develop mitigation strategies.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

- Commodities (Physical Energy) knowledge beneficial.

- Relevant financial services experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, compliance, or governance.

- Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts; ability to design, create, and evaluate a Risk & Control Self-Assessment.

- Prior exposure to Front Office Trading beneficial.

- Broad knowledge of FERC and ISO rules beneficial.
