About the Position
Our client is looking for an experienced Autobody Prepper to join their collision repair team in Peterborough.
The Autobody Prepper is responsible for preparing vehicles and parts for refinishing. This includes sanding, masking, cleaning, priming, and ensuring surfaces are properly prepared before they enter the paint booth.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, and works well as part of a busy collision repair team.

Responsibilities

- Prepare vehicles and parts for painting and refinishing

- Clean and sand surfaces to remove dirt, debris, and imperfections

- Use hand tools and power sanders to create a smooth, paint-ready surface

- Mask and protect areas that are not being painted

- Apply primer and prepare surfaces for final refinishing

- Assist with mixing paints and primers according to manufacturer specifications

- Help maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas

- Work closely with painters and other collision repair team members

- Help keep vehicles moving efficiently through the repair process

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

- Follow all shop safety procedures and use required PPE

- Complete other duties as required

Qualifications

- Previous experience as an Autobody Prepper or in a collision repair environment is preferred

- Experience with sanding, masking, priming, and surface preparation

- Knowledge of automotive refinishing and paint preparation

- Comfortable using sanders, fillers, masking materials, and related equipment

- Strong attention to detail

- Able to follow instructions and established repair procedures

- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop

- Reliable and able to work as part of a team

- Able to stand for extended periods and perform bending, lifting, and other physical tasks

- Understanding of workplace safety and proper PPE use

- Valid drivers licence
