Job Summary: As a Digital Meteorologist, you will join Oklahoma's Own weather team, bringing accurate, engaging forecasts to audiences statewide across streaming, web, apps and social media. You will regularly lead and coordinate statewide weather streams, working alongside the News 9 and News On 6 Weather Experts, Griffin Media Weather Observers with resources from across the state. This is a digital-first role with a strong emphasis on live streaming, severe weather coverage, and creative digital storytelling. You will help audiences understand how weather affects their day and their safety no matter where or how they choose to watch. Reporting to the Director of Multi-Market Digital Content, you will play a key part in showcasing Griffin Media's combined weather expertise as one trusted, statewide authority, helping keep Oklahomans safe, informed, and connected.

Job Responsibilities:

- Lead and participate in live statewide weather streams, including daily forecast updates, developing weather events, and severe weather coverage, collaborating with News 9 and News On 6 Meteorologists to showcase the expertise and personalities of both weather teams.

- Incorporate Griffin Media Meteorologists, Weather Observers and other statewide resources into live and digital coverage. Develop and coordinate recurring weather programming for CTV/FAST and other streaming platforms.

- Engage directly with digital audiences by answering weather questions, providing clear and meteorologically sound explanations, and repurposing live coverage into compelling social and digital content.

- Oversee and contribute to daily forecast articles and platform-specific weather content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other channels, with strong attention to writing, headlines, SEO and graphics.

- Help establish consistent digital weather practices across both markets. Provide training and support to other Meteorologists, and manage the promotion and distribution of weather content through social media, push alerts, newsletters, streaming platforms and on-air promotion.

- Stay current on digital, social, streaming and SEO best practices, meeting regularly with Griffin Media's digital consultant and other digital leaders to evaluate performance and identify opportunities.

- Collaborate with Meteorologists, digital leadership and marketing teams to develop a weekday weather newsletter and other digital franchises that combine useful forecast information with the personalities of Griffin Media Meteorologists to grow the weather audience.

- Serve as an active member of Griffin Media's severe weather operation before, during and after significant weather events - coordinating coverage plans, leading pre and post-event live streams, monitoring audience-submitted content and social conversation, and connecting statewide audiences with Meteorologists and Weather Observers who can provide local expertise.

- Travel between Griffin Media's Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets as needed to coordinate coverage, build relationships with both weather teams, and support a unified statewide digital weather strategy.

- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.

Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

Skills and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field preferred. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.

- Previous experience in broadcast meteorology, digital journalism, or related field.

- Strong understanding of Oklahoma weather and severe weather forecasting, with the ability to communicate complex weather information clearly, accurately and conversationally.

- Excellent live and on-camera presentation skills, along with strong writing skills and an understanding of digital headlines, SEO and audience engagement.

- Strong understanding of digital journalism, live streaming and social media, with experience creating platform-specific content for digital and social audiences.

- Ability to work calmly, adapt content across platforms and make sound editorial decisions during rapidly developing weather situations.

- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and locations. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and extended hours during significant weather events.

- Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver's license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.

- Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
