We are looking for a smart, hard-working, and creative Product Safety Compliance Manager to join our Global Requirements Team, managing safety and compliance for our Consumables Private Brands (non-food) portfolio: cosmetics and personal care, detergents and cleaning products, formulated household goods, and OTC/drug products.

Key job responsibilities
1. Manage regulatory applicability for CPB consumables: review new and emerging regulations across cosmetics, detergents, formulated goods, and drugs/medical devices, assess impact on Amazon's Private Brands portfolio, and translate requirements into operational processes that close compliance gaps.
2. Lead product safety investigations and manage customer complaints and incidents, working with the audit team on post-market surveillance, corrective actions, and market action recommendations.
3. Respond to labelling queries and own labelling compliance across the portfolio, advising on claims, warnings, ingredient declarations, and market-specific labelling requirements.
4. Partner with business teams on product development questions, providing early compliance input on formulations, claims, and ingredients to keep launches on track.
5. Review product formulations, ingredient lists, Safety Data Sheets, and lab reports, and advise business teams on ingredient restrictions, permissible use levels, and compliance pathways.
6. Manage product notification and registration obligations (e.g. US FDA cosmetics listing under MoCRA, EU CPNP for cosmetics, OTC drug facility and product listings, detergent ingredient disclosure).
7. Provide subject-matter expertise and technical guidance to Legal on regulatory interpretation, upcoming rulemaking, and advocacy.
8. Build scalable, multi-jurisdictional approaches and apply requirements flexibly to support the development of country-specific, regional, and global products.
9. Develop guidance documents for internal teams on formulation, labelling, and packaging compliance.
10. Support vendor onboarding through SDS and formulation review and ingredient inventory management.

A day in the life
You start your day reviewing regulatory intelligence alerts for new or changing consumables regulations across the US and EU, and assessing whether they apply to Amazon's cosmetics, detergent, formulated-goods, and OTC/drug portfolio. You partner with Legal, Product Safety, Vendor Management, and Business teams to turn complex requirements into clear compliance guidance. On a given day you might investigate a customer safety complaint on a personal care product, answer a labelling query on ingredient declarations for a detergent, advise a business team on the compliance of a new formulation in development, review an SDS for a new vendor, or assess an EU Cosmetics Regulation restricted-substance update. You are the go-to consumables compliance expert, balancing technical depth with practical business judgement.

About the team
The Global Requirements Team implements the compliance requirements that enable safe and compliant products for our Private Brands business. This role drives implementation and continuous improvement of safety and compliance procedures for our consumables: cosmetics and personal care, detergents and cleaning products, formulated household goods, and OTC/drug products. You will manage escalations from senior stakeholders and build optimized, scalable processes while maintaining high standards for worldwide compliance.

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years of Product Safety & Compliance Law experience
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across business development, marketing, operations, product development, legal, etc.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline.
- Working knowledge of US and EU consumables regulatory frameworks, including several of: US FDA cosmetics regulation and MoCRA, California Proposition 65, PFAS regulations, EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, EU Detergents Regulation, CLP (EC) No 1272/2008, and REACH.
- Experience reviewing formulations, ingredient lists, and Safety Data Sheets against ingredient restrictions and labelling requirements.
- Experience interpreting labelling and claims requirements for consumer products and advising business teams on compliant labelling.
- Experience conducting or supporting product safety investigations and managing customer complaints or product incidents.

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with OTC/drug regulatory frameworks (e.g. US OTC monographs, drug facility and product listing).
- Experience with Canadian, Mexican, and Japanese consumables regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing multi-jurisdictional compliance programs and harmonizing US federal and state requirements with EU frameworks.
- Experience with food contact material regulations (e.g. FDA 21 CFR, EU 1935/2004).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
