Overview:

Full-Time | Operating Room

Overview

Mercy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Operating Room Circulator RN to join our surgical services team. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee patient care throughout the perioperative experience, serving as a key advocate for patients during surgery. The OR Circulator partners with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote patient safety, ensure efficient surgical workflows, and deliver exceptional care aligned with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards.

What You'll Do

As an OR Circulator RN, you will:

- Coordinate and manage patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Serve as the patient's advocate throughout the perioperative experience.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members regarding care plans and surgical procedures.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Utilize patient safety tools and perform detailed patient handoffs.
- Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and departmental competencies.
- Delegate and supervise care activities as appropriate.
- Support a culture of teamwork, safety, and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

Education

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure

- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state licensure, as applicable.

Certifications

- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
- Additional certifications may be required based on department needs, including ACLS and other unit-specific certifications.

Preferred Experience

- Previous Operating Room and/or Circulator nursing experience preferred.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, squat, twist, and perform other physical activities necessary for patient care and surgical support.
