Job Description

We are currently seeking two qualified Project Engineers to join our team, with one position based in Edmonton, and one position based in Calgary. The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership to engineering disciplines on projects to ensure: work plans are developed and followed consistently with the Project Execution Plan, Project Job Instructions; and project goals for quality, health, safety, environment, regulatory, schedule and cost are achieved. Has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating all aspects of the assigned engineering work on the project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Lead and coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage the engineering activities on a project in liaison with the PM/PEM and provide full technical responsibility for planning, interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the engineering assignments and activities. 
- Manage engineering project design, scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
- Review and approve engineering design documents, trends, change orders, drawing revisions, material requisitions, technical part of bid tabs, engineering studies, quantity take-offs, man-hour forecasts, progress reports, resolve RFIs, engineering schedules, interface date(s) of procurement schedule and technical deviations. 
- Act as the primary engineering liaison with Clients, Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Project Controls, Procurement, Construction, and other project stakeholders.
- Manage technical documentation and provide engineering support to procurement, construction, and regulatory. 
- Recommend and participate in technical reviews, contract reviews, and design co-ordination meetings with construction at various phases. 
- Coordinate and manage statutory and company specific design reviews, including Plot Plan, PFD, P&ID, HAZOP, 3D model, Constructability etc.
- Identify and proactively address project risks, technical issues, cost impacts, and schedule concerns.
- Coordinate the management of engineering consultants and subcontractors as required.
- Ensure engineering design, documentation, and deliverables comply with applicable safety, quality, company, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and provide leadership to engineering teams and support staff.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA, or eligibility to obtain registration with APEGA.
- 5 to 10 years of progressive Project Engineering experience.
- Experience working on EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects.
- Experience delivering projects within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or related industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and project deliverables.
- Knowledge of project execution, engineering design processes, procurement, construction practices, and relevant industry standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred

- Experience serving as Project Engineer on small to medium-sized capital projects.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Experience participating in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with P&IDs, engineering review processes, technical risk assessments, and design change control procedures.
