About this role
MedCare Pediatric is seeking a dependable and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain our healthcare facility in Houston.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting problems, making repairs, working with their hands, and taking pride in keeping a facility safe, clean, and well maintained.
You'll perform a variety of general building maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, with support from outside vendors and contractors when specialized work is required.
Company vehicle provided for shuttle duties
What You'll Do
- Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and general facility upkeep
- Troubleshoot and repair doors, locks, hardware, fixtures, furniture, ceiling tiles, and other building components
- Perform painting, drywall repair, basic carpentry, flooring, and general repair projects
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and fixture replacements
- Perform basic electrical repairs, including lights, switches, outlets, and fixtures
- Complete preventative maintenance and routine facility inspections
- Replace HVAC filters and perform basic HVAC maintenance
- Maintain grounds, parking areas, and exterior areas of the facility
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies when needed
- Maintain organized tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
- Keep maintenance records and communicate maintenance issues as needed
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs
- Operate a company passenger shuttle van as needed; training will be provided
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and comfortable solving problems independently.
The ideal candidate:
- Has hands-on experience with general building or facilities maintenance
- Can troubleshoot common maintenance problems
- Is comfortable using hand and power tools
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Can work independently with minimal supervision
- Is dependable and punctual
- Is professional and courteous with employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors
- Is comfortable working indoors and outdoors
- Understands the importance of working safely in a healthcare environment
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of facilities, commercial building, apartment, hotel, hospital, property maintenance, or related experience
- Painting and drywall repair
- Basic carpentry and wood repair
- Basic plumbing
- Basic electrical repair
- Door, lock, and hardware repair
- Fixture, furniture, and equipment installation
- Preventative maintenance
- HVAC filter replacement
- Grounds maintenance and pressure washing
- General commercial facility maintenance
You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We're looking for a well-rounded maintenance professional who can handle common building repairs, troubleshoot problems, and recognize when a specialized contractor is needed.
Schedule
Monday–Friday
10:30 AM–6:30 PM
No rotating schedule is required for this position.
A company vehicle is provided when the employee is performing shuttle duties.
