The Opportunity
The Product Analyst partners with Product, Innovation and other teams across the organization to use data to understand performance, evaluate opportunities, and make better decisions across digital products, audience experiences, editorial initiatives, and business priorities. This role translates stakeholder needs and organizational goals into clear measurement approaches, reporting tools, and actionable analysis.
The Product Analyst supports strategic and operational decision-making through analysis, dashboard development, experimentation support, and analytics implementation. This role conducts cross-functional analysis for teams across the organization while also helping maintain the tracking and measurement systems that allow teams to evaluate their work with confidence.
What You'll Do
- Lead analyses that help product, innovation, and business teams understand audience behavior, identify opportunities, and make data-informed decisions.
- Map user journeys with data to demonstrate how audiences interact with our products.
- Translate product, innovation, and business questions into clear metrics, tracking plans, dashboards, and recommendations.
- Own analytics tracking and measurement setup across websites, apps, audio products, and editorial analytics tools.
- Validate tracking, monitor data quality, and resolve reporting or implementation issues.
- Support product launches, migrations, workflow improvements, and experiments through measurement planning, data analysis, and QA.
- Develop dashboards, reports, documentation, and automated workflows that help teams monitor performance.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners on analytics, tracking, and reporting needs.
Qualifications
- Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and analytics implementation.
- Experience with SQL and working in data warehouses
- Experience with Looker or other BI tools
- Advanced analytical skills with experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating abundant information with accuracy
- Strong communication and presentation skills – written, visual, and verbal
- Experience with app analytics, audio analytics, or cross-platform product measurement.
- A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity is essential
Experience working with data visualization tools, building interactive reports, creating dashboards for different audiences, and developing calculated KPIs or metrics.
Additional Skils:
- Experience managing vendor relationships or supporting third-party analytics and technology platforms.
- Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel proficiency
Compensation
The expected pay range for this position is $88,000 to $98,000 per ANNUM.
Chicago Public Media provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographical location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
