About the Team

GUS is Salesforce's internal grand-unified system for agile work tracking — the platform thousands of Salesforce engineers use every day to plan, build, and ship. Built on the Core Platform, GUS combines agile tooling, planning, and reporting into a single system of record for engineering execution. Our team owns the backend services, platform integrations, and increasingly the AI-assisted developer tooling that make GUS fast, reliable, and intelligent.

As a member of the GUS engineering team, you will design and build backend services for our agile tooling, integrate GUS with the broader Salesforce ecosystem, and help pioneer AI-assisted developer workflows that raise the productivity of every engineer at the company. Responsibilities:
-Design, build, and operate backend services powering GUS agile tooling — work items, planning, sprints, and reporting.
-Build and maintain platform integrations connecting GUS with other Salesforce systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
-Develop AI-assisted developer tooling — agents, automation, and intelligent workflows — that improve how engineers interact with GUS.
-Own features end to end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operation.
-Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code and raise the quality bar through code review.
-Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to translate requirements into reliable, scalable solutions.
-Diagnose and resolve production issues, root-cause them, and drive action plans that prevent recurrence.
-Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to the team's technical direction and standards.

Required Qualifications:
-BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
3–5 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production services at scale.
-Strong proficiency in a modern backend language (Java, Apex, or equivalent) and experience with large, complex codebases.
-Experience designing and consuming APIs and building integrations between systems.
-Solid grounding in data modeling, relational databases, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
-Demonstrated ability to own features end to end and deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced, agile environment.
-Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Desired Skills:
-Experience with AI-assisted development tooling — LLM-backed agents, coding assistants, or automation — and a point of view on applying them to real engineering workflows.
-Experience building on or extending the Salesforce Platform (Apex, LWC, platform APIs).
-Familiarity with agile tooling and engineering-productivity systems.
-Experience with cloud-native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
-Experience with observability and performance tooling (Splunk, Grafana, or equivalent).
-Ability to influence across teams and consult on design and architecture beyond your immediate scope.
-A track record of mentoring peers and elevating team practices.

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions.

The typical base salary range for this position is $117,200 - $176,700 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $141,200 - $194,299 annually.

The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
