Job Description:

Job purpose

The Infusion Registered Nurse Lead is a leadership role within the Nursing Department. In addition to providing patient care, the Infusion RN Lead oversees the flow of patients through the infusion room and serves as a resource for members of the nursing team.

Duties and responsibilities

·         Provision of patient care

·         Maintains patient flow in the infusion room

·         Serves as a trainer and mentor for nursing department employees

·         Resolves patient concerns/complaints in the infusion room

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

·         Must be able to work well with others as well as individually.

·         Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Must have knowledge of and be able to comply with all HIPAA regulations.

·         Must have excellent time management skills.

Education/Experience

·         Must have an Associate’s degree in Nursing.

·         Must have at least (1) year of experience as an Infusion nurse at CCI.

·         Must be BLS certified.

·         Licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

·         Required for continued employment:

o   Attendance recommended at yearly workshop provided by CCI.

o   Attendance at 75% of staff meetings provided by CCI.

o    Participation recommended in professional development through organizations such as ONS and ONNA.

·         Maintain appropriate CEUs.

Working conditions

This position works in the infusion/patient care department of a busy oncology/hematology clinic. This person will have direct contact with patients on a regular basis.

Physical requirements

This position requires that the employee be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours a day on most days. This position also requires that the employee be able to lift at least fifty pounds in order to assist patients when necessary.

Direct reports

This position is a supervisory position and assists the Nurse Admin Manager in supervision of the nursing team within their assigned department.
