Equipment Repairman

Working for a world class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel a Field Equipment Repairman will play a vital role in keeping the tools and equipment that support complex commercial, bridge, and industrial projects safe, reliable, and ready for use. Applying hands-on expertise to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic tools and equipment, including small engines and specialized field equipment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.

Core Responsibilities

- Responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic tools and equipment.

- Repair and rebuild 2 and 4 cycle engines.

- Troubleshoot and repair tools that include grinders, roto-hammers, mag-drills, phlegmatic tuggers, button punches, com-a-longs, chain falls, and cable falls as well as other applicable tools and equipment.

- Order and stock tool parts and equipment.

- Organize and clean work area to ensure a safe and efficient work zone.

- Communicate with vendors to ensure proper items are purchased and correctly invoiced.

- Maintain proper paperwork for department records.

- Outsource equipment repairs if needed and track appropriate documents.

- Interface with co-workers and management to ensure that proper work is performed effectively and cost-efficient.

Education/Training - Work Experience

- HS diploma or equivalent.

- 5 years related experience in the repair of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical tools and equipment.

- Two (2) years of course work from an accredited vocational/educational institution may substitute for two (2) years of the required exp.

Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses

- Equipment Knowledge & Skills – Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical codes. Proven ability to repair electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical tools.

- Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, such as reports and repair orders to further provide documentation of completed tasks and future upgrades on equipment.

- Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

- Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Software and Technology Position will require the frequent use of MS Windows 7 and/or MS Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and MS Outlook. Blue Beam PDF Software; Concur Software for expenses or applicable software.

- Occasionally climbing ladders/scaffolding and carrying heights in precarious places
