Electrical Assembly Lead

Our client is seeking a full-time Electrical Assembly Lead for their Huntsville shop. This person will run day-to-day electrical assembly work: assign jobs, set priorities, check workmanship, keep travelers accurate, and keep the crew on schedule. They will build electrical assemblies on schedule, document the work, and meet quality standards on every job. The role requires close attention to detail, the ability to lead the electrical assembly team, and experience training junior technicians.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead daily electrical assembly work in the shop, including job assignment, priorities, and status.
• Review incoming work packages for drawings, BOMs, revisions, and missing information before the job hits the bench.
• Check in-process and completed cables, harnesses, and assemblies for workmanship and drawing compliance.
• Train technicians on build methods, tooling, ESD, FOD, travelers, and quality expectations.
• Keep multiple jobs moving and raise schedule, parts, or quality risks to management early.
• Maintain project routers and shop records so configuration and status are accurate.
• Enforce AS9100, ESD, FOD, tool-control, and shop safety practices.
• Build cables, wire harnesses, and related electrical assemblies from manufacturing orders, drawings, engineering changes, customer specifications, and process instructions.
• Cut, strip, route, crimp, solder, terminate, and label wiring; install heat shrink, boots, backshells, and other protective hardware.
• Test completed assemblies for continuity, shorts, and grounds.
• Integrate finished harnesses into assemblies, enclosures, or equipment racks as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma.
• 5+ years building cables, wire harnesses, or aircraft/avionics electrical assemblies in a production shop.
• Experience with both crimp and solder harness work.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and bills of material.
• Working knowledge of IPC standards, including J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
• Must possess IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
• Familiarity with IPC, J-STD, SAE AS, and MIL specifications used in defense/aerospace harness work.
• Ability to use basic electronic test equipment, including multimeters and insulation testers.
• Strong attention to detail and consistent workmanship.
• Ability to work with shop teammates and keep documentation accurate.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must currently possess an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification.
• Harness or solder experience to IPC Class 3.
• Experience in an AS9100 aerospace or defense shop.
• Familiarity with analog and digital electronics.
• Experience with aircraft or airframe electrical modifications.
• A&P or other aviation/avionics certification.
• Military or DoD electrical/avionics background.
• Familiarity with aircraft wiring practices such as SAE AS50881.
• Use of an oscilloscope, signal generator, or similar test equipment.
