What you’ll be doing...

As a Data Scientist Intern within Fiber Engineering & Operations, you’ll work at the intersection of predictive machine learning, generative AI, and large-scale network infrastructure. Rather than shadowing or building static dashboards, you’ll own end-to-end predictive modeling projects and stress-test agentic AI tools that directly optimize field operations across our combined Verizon Telecom (VZT) and Verizon Fiber (VZF) footprints.

In this hybrid internship, based out of Irving, TX, you’ll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll also join us for the Intern Marquee event in Basking Ridge, NJ, a unique, in-person experience designed exclusively for all US interns. This multi-day event is your chance to build your connections through structured networking, and be inspired by top executives in a professional environment.

You bring a collaborative, "One Team" spirit that breaks down silos and influences stakeholders across the business to deliver customer-centric impact.

All successful applicants to this role will:

- Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with a graduation date between December 2027 - June 2028, and be in good academic standing.
- Have ability to participate in a full-time, hybrid, 10-week (temporary) internship between June 2027 to August 2027.
- Have authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
- Be willing and able to travel.
- Be willing and able to relocate.
- Demonstrate agile, clear, and persuasive written and verbal communication.
- Bring experiences in advanced predictive analytics & data architecture, potentially demonstrated by work in transitioning systems from historical reporting to predictive, algorithmic forecasting, behavioral data modeling, or data structuring.
- Have demonstrated familiarity with generative AI Frameworks & Tools (LangChain, AutoGPT, Google Gemini, NotebookLM).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

- Attending September 2026 VTeamer for a Day in Irving and current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in one of the following majors: Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related major.
- Complex Problem Solving & Critical Thinking.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional projects, applying systems thinking, data-backed reasoning, and process simplification to solve complex problems and streamline workflows across matrixed teams.
- A track record of rapid skill acquisition and entrepreneurial initiative, with proven ability to leverage technical/data literacy (including AI tools) to adapt to shifting priorities and deliver customer-centric outcomes.

## Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
