LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community.
By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
About the role:
As a Mobile Plant Operator (Recycling), you will be responsible for safely controlling traffic movements within the Bulking & Loading areas, to safely operate mobile and static plant and to unload/load and store wastes & collected recyclables, to carry inspections as to the quality of materials and to ensure that the working area is kept clean at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and handle waste and recyclable materials , ensuring materials are deposited safely and efficiently.
- Carry out waste inspections , identifying and reporting contamination, non-conforming waste and other issues in line with company procedures.
- Operate loading shovel and site equipment to move materials safely and support day-to-day site operations.
- Maintain a safe working environment , including managing vehicle and pedestrian movements and identifying and reporting potential hazards.
- Carry out daily plant and equipment checks , reporting defects and assisting with routine maintenance and replacement of wear parts.
- Keep the site, plant and machinery clean and tidy , using pressure washers, air lines and hand tools as required.
- Manage spillages and general site housekeeping , supporting the wider team and carrying out other operational duties as required.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate must have a fully verifiable certificate for plant operation for Wheeled Loading Shovel above 10t.
- 360 excavator above 10t (desirable).
- Previous experience of waste disposal facilities is desirable.
- Ability to identify and report health and safety defects, with a focus and dedication to following safety protocols.
- Ability to work at height.
- Able to work calmly under pressure.
- Ability to use initiative and work flexibly and efficiently without constant supervision.
