Chief Manager - O&M Commissioning

Position Summary

The Chief Manager - O&M Commissioning is responsible for ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, testing, commissioning support, protection system performance, and grid compliance for EHV/UHV substations across Resonia assets. The role provides centralized technical leadership for protection, control, automation, SCADA/SAS systems, disturbance analysis, relay coordination, asset reliability improvement, and implementation of best-in-class protection engineering practices across operational and project sites in India.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

- Lead operation, maintenance, testing and commissioning support of protection, control and automation systems for 220kV, 400kV and 765kV substations.

- Ensure reliability and performance of numerical relays, protection panels, CTs, PTs, CVTs, DC systems, battery banks and associated protection equipment.

- Conduct disturbance analysis, fault investigations, RCA preparation and timely restoration support following grid events and protection system operations.

- Review and validate relay settings, protection coordination studies, fault level studies and compliance with CEA, CERC, Grid Code and utility standards.

- Drive testing and commissioning best practices including scheme checks, secondary injection testing, primary injection testing and end-to-end protection validation.

- Monitor and ensure optimum performance of IEC 61850 based Substation Automation Systems, SCADA, RTU, Gateway and communication infrastructure.

- Support outage planning, shutdown management, resource mobilization, risk mitigation and asset reliability improvement initiatives.

- Develop technical capability of site teams and ensure adherence to safety, quality and operational excellence standards.

Critical Success Factors - Essential

- Expertise in protection relays, automation systems and protection schemes

- Hands-on experience with Omicron, CPC-100, CT Analyzer, FREJA, Megger or equivalent testing platforms

- Strong knowledge of CEA Regulations, Grid Codes, IEC/IEEE standards and electrical safety practices

Critical Success Factors - Desirable

- Experience with 132kV, 220kV, 400kV and 765kV AIS/GIS substations

- IEC 61850 engineering and digital substation implementation experience

- Exposure to predictive maintenance, digital asset management and analytics tools
