Shipping Clerk I

Position Summary: The Shipping Clerk I supports daily shipping and warehouse operations by preparing products for shipment, verifying documentation, packaging materials, and assisting with loading and unloading activities. This position works under direct supervision and is expected to develop proficiency in shipping procedures, material handling, forklift operation, and basic crane operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assist with daily shipping operations and shipment preparation activities.

- Review shipping documentation for completeness and accuracy.

- Ensure shipment information is entered accurately into company systems.

- Identify shipment discrepancies and report issues to the Warehouse Supervisor.

- Assist with documenting shipments through photographs and email communication.

- Operate forklifts as a Level 1 Operator for standard material handling activities.

- Operate overhead cranes as a Crane Level 1 Operator.

- Review shipping instructions and assist in preparing units for shipment.

- Assist with the removal of suction strainers and oil coolers.

- Assist with the installation of belts and belt guards according to specifications.

- Assist with applying heat shrink wrap to starters, control panels, and motors.

- Schedule shipments using at least one approved carrier method.

- Check in drivers and support receiving activities.

- Follow ISO 9001 shipping procedures and company safety requirements.

- Maintain no more than three corrective actions annually related to safety, quality, or shipping procedures.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Basic knowledge of warehouse and shipping operations.

- Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

- Ability to read shipping instructions and follow established procedures.

- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

- Basic computer proficiency.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, reaching, and climbing.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
