Cloud Engineer (6851)

As an Cloud Engineer , you will support the implementation, maintenance and daily operation of secure, reliable cloud environments for our government clients. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to configure cloud services, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, support cloud operations, and automate routine tasks while maintaining established security and compliance standards.

Work is 5 days onsite in a SCIF, Reston, VA.

What you’ll do:

- Deploy, configure and maintain AWS cloud resources using established architecture, engineering standards and operating procedures.

- Monitor and manage the operations ticket queue, ensuring requests are acknowledged, prioritized, documented, and resolved within established service-level targets.

- Provide professional customer support by communicating clearly, gathering needed details, and providing timely status updates on requests and incidents.

- Troubleshoot and resolve routine cloud infrastructure, access, and service issues using established procedures and knowledge articles.

- Support incident response by identifying issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers, documenting actions taken, and helping restore services quickly.

- Maintain accurate ticket records and contribute to operational documentation, including troubleshooting guides, recurring issue trends, and process improvements.

- Support the evaluation and implementation of cloud services, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solutions.

- Monitor cloud infrastructure and application performance using approved monitoring tools, including application performance monitoring (APM) software.

- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to clarify technical requirements, implement changes, and improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

- Develop and maintain scripts and infrastructure-as-code configurations to automate deployment, monitoring and routine cloud management tasks.

- Implement established cloud and network security controls using approved tools, and follow data protection, privacy, and cloud governance requirements.

- Use monitoring and audit tools to identify issues, collect compliance evidence, and support remediation activities.

- Contribute to risk assessments and architecture reviews by gathering technical information, documenting findings, and completing assigned engineering tasks.

- Stay current on relevant AWS services and cloud technologies and participate in team knowledge sharing.

What you’ll need to succeed:

- Required Qualifications

- Minimum 2-4 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer with a strong emphasis on cloud-based solution design and architecture.

- Extensive experience building and leading AWS cloud infrastructure solutions at scale across multiple classification domains (IL5 to IL6+) simultaneously

- Extensive hands-on experience with leading cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, EBS, etc.

- Expert-level skills in creating, managing, and hardening desktop OS images across multiple classification domains in the cloud using AMIs

- In-depth understanding of cloud architecture patterns, microservices, serverless computing, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and related technologies.

- Expertise integrating with enterprise authentication and authorization systems.

- Strong background in infrastructure-as-code (IAC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a track record of developing innovative solutions to challenging technical problems.

- In-depth understanding of cloud security best practices and experience implementing security controls in a cloud environment.

- Excellent scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash, etc.).

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Active TS//SCI with CI poly

- Current certifications to meet 8140/8570 standards (e.g. Security+ or above)

SALARY RANGE: $150,000 - $185,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:

- The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience

- The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs

- Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation

- This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:

- Performance-based bonuses

- Company-paid training and/or certifications

- Referral bonuses
