Electronic Hardware Specialist

We are looking for a talented Electronic Hardware Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Drivetrain & Braking Systems advanced Engineering group in Nuneaton, United Kingdom.

This role might require up to 25% of domestic and international travel.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

- Architect next-generation braking and steering electronics: Define scalable ECU, sensor, and actuator hardware architectures that enable safe, reliable, and high-performance control systems for commercial vehicles.

- Drive innovation in safety-critical hardware design: Lead the development of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics that support advanced braking and steering technologies.

- Ensure compliance and product integrity: Embed functional safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements into hardware designs from concept through production.

- Influence key technical decisions: Select microcontrollers, processors, communication interfaces, power devices, and sensors that optimize performance, cost, and long-term scalability.

- Enable seamless system integration: Partner with software, controls, systems, and mechanical engineering teams to deliver robust hardware-software solutions that meet vehicle-level requirements.

- Accelerate product development and validation: Lead design reviews, prototype bring-up, debugging, verification, and qualification testing to ensure products are production-ready.

- Solve complex engineering challenges: Conduct root cause analysis and drive resolution of technical issues during development, validation, and manufacturing phases.

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship: Guide cross-functional teams and support the growth of junior engineers while establishing engineering best practices across the product lifecycle.

Education/ Experience:

- College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
- Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
