In this role, you will design, build, operate, and maintain core platform components and distributed systems that support the reliable execution of customer workloads across Azure. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.  </span></p></div><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><div><ul><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Design, implement, test, and ship platform capabilities and services for Azure Functions. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on reliability, availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Own services through their full lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, repair work, and continuous improvement. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Use logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, testing, and automation to proactively identify issues and improve production health. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in running online services, including problems that span multiple components or dependencies. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Develop and improve platform tooling and automation for safe deployments, regression detection, rollback, and operational readiness. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Partner with engineers and stakeholders across teams to define requirements, make sound technical decisions, and deliver maintainable solutions. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Contribute to architecture and design reviews, code reviews, engineering standards, and technical direction for platform components. </span></li><li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: black;">Mentor other engineers and help strengthen engineering practices across the team. </span></li></ul></div><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><div><p><strong>Required/Minimum Qualifications: </strong></p><div><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python<ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul></div><div> </div><div><strong>Other Requirements: </strong></div><div>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: </div><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li style="list-style-type: none;">Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.</li></ul><p style="list-style-type: none;"> </p><p style="list-style-type: none;"><strong>Preferred/Additional Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>2+ years of experience designing, building, operating, or maintaining distributed systems or cloud services.</li><li>Experience developing and maintaining platform or infrastructure components for large-scale online services.</li><li>Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.</li><li>Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.</li><li>Experience improving service reliability, performance, scalability, diagnosability, and operational efficiency.</li><li>Experience troubleshooting complex production issues using logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, and debugging tools.</li><li>Experience with modern software engineering practices, including design and code reviews, automated testing, source control, build and release processes, and secure development.</li><li>Communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.</li></ul></div> <br><br><p>Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. </p><p></p> <p>Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
