Description
Build the applications that power Amazon Ads' support ecosystem — from self-service educational content and AI-based assistants to human-powered support and post-interaction tools — directly unblocking advertisers in their moment of need and ensuring customer delight across every support path. Your work will make advertisers confident and competent with Amazon Ads, regardless of their prior experience.
The Ad Services team builds support experiences that are contextually relevant, easy to discover, efficient, accurate, and predictive of users' needs. We believe best-in-class support should be integrated into the advertiser's workflow, context-aware, and carefully balanced between self-service options and personalized assistance. You'll join a product-focused two-pizza team working side-by-side with product owners — contributing ideas that become your projects. You'll build across Help Me Here, Help products, an AI-based assistant, Contact Us, Case Log, and How'd My Driving (HMD) surveys, empowering both advertisers and associates to succeed across every support path.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test features for self-service options and personalized AI assistance
- Write clean, well-tested Java code and ship it through Amazon's CI/CD pipelines with confidence
- Build and maintain APIs, Lambda functions, and event-driven workflows using DynamoDB, SQS, Step Functions, and ECS
- Debug and resolve production issues — own your code from laptop to production
- Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving feedback that raises the quality bar for the team
- Contribute to operational excellence — write runbooks, monitor dashboards, and participate in on-call rotations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into working software
- Learn and apply Amazon's internal frameworks and tools (Coral, Brazil, Apollo, Pipelines) to deliver at scale
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
