Research Associate, WSJ Sports Intelligence

About The Role

We are currently looking for a diligent, positive, and responsible team player with meticulous attention to detail and high initiative to join our new sports data research team. You will focus on gathering and validating complex data points across sports franchises, including ownership structures and financial filings.

You will report to the Research Manager, WSJ Sports Intelligence.

There are 2 vacancies for this role.

You Will

- Perform original research to input or update data in company records using various sources, including Internet research, primary government documents, and other resources.
- Master our in-house processes and guidelines quickly, and feel comfortable applying these rules to the databases for quality and consistency.
- As required, effectively and professionally contact/interview company officials to verify and update a company's financing data and other proprietary information.
- Contribute to workflow improvements and tool efficiencies using an automation mindset
- Work under tight deadlines in a goal-oriented environment.
- Show flexibility to be a team player and collaborate on other projects as needed

You Have

- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of and interest in economics, financial markets and business
- Expert-level research and investigative skills, with demonstrable proficiency in advanced online search tools and proprietary databases
- Experience handling large volumes of information
- Sharp attention to detail, with the ability to rapidly spot the errors that others failed to catch while maintaining a sense of perspective to see the bigger picture.
- An openness to different views and opinions and an appreciation for team diversity

Preferred

- Specialist business or financial knowledge
- Fluency in English AND at least one of the following: Spanish, French, Italian
- Education to a degree level or relevant experience

Base Pay Range: €20,000 - €30,000
