We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Kitchen porter with a background in exceptional food catering services to join our business and work at one of our highly prestigious education settings.

Nestled in the heart of Harewood Leeds, this prestigious independent school - caters for day pupils as well as  staff and includes not only a breakfast, lunch  but also an extensive hospitality service. This operates 5  days a week.

Job Description

We're looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Porter to join our team in Harewood, United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Porter, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of our kitchen operations. Working collaboratively with our culinary team, you'll ensure that our kitchen runs smoothly while upholding the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is resilient, organized, and committed to supporting a dynamic food service environment.

- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment by hand or using industrial dishwashers, ensuring all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas to maintain a hygienic and organized workspace
- Empty rubbish bins and manage proper disposal of waste materials in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients
- Receive, store, and organize kitchen supplies and ingredients, maintaining accurate inventory records
- Perform routine maintenance checks on kitchen equipment to ensure everything is in good working order
- Maintain compliance with all health and safety protocols, reporting any concerns or hazards to management
- Support the kitchen team in a collaborative manner, responding promptly to requests and adapting to changing priorities
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive kitchen environment through effective communication and teamwork

Qualifications

- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods throughout your shift
- Capability to lift and carry heavy objects safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work methodically through assigned tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proven teamwork abilities and a willingness to support colleagues
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and sanitation practices (training provided)
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and develop your skill set in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Awareness of food safety principles and a commitment to maintaining health and safety standards
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing kitchen demands
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
