WMs staff of over 200 Professional Engineers, Planners, Surveyors, Technicians, Construction Inspectors, and Support Personnel work on a diverse portfolio of projects involving highways, bridges, mass transit facilities, water resources, utilities and water & wastewater facilities.
Wallace Montgomery (WM) is actively seeking a SUE Technician for immediate employment in our Hunt Valley, MD office to support our growing Survey group based in Maryland. Projects will be predominantly throughout Maryland and to a lesser degree northern Virginia and Delaware. The qualified candidate will assist and support Survey projects by completing field location of subsurface utilities for the purpose of Subsurface Utility Engineering, data creation, display, and maintenance. Day-to-day operations will require field electronic location and designation of subsurface utilities using Pipe and Cable Locators and electromagnetic induction devices, record research, preparing sketches and reports.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide underground utility flagging designation with proficiency using electromagnet equipment and other geophysical means.
- Designate all utility line types of conductive or non-conductive materials including water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and all other underground facilities that would affect excavation of a site.
- Mark said utilities with flags and/or paint.
- Create accurate and legible field records.
- Assist with maintenance of vehicles/trucks, equipment, and work sites.
- Research all utilities that may be on a site prior to entering a site.
- Exercise extreme caution near or around any utility facility and follow all applicable job site safety parameters.

Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and minimum requirements include:
- Relative SUE/Survey experience is desired.
- Able to work outdoors in all elements and environments.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, as-built drawings and schematic records.
- Valid Drivers License.
