About this role
Job Purpose/Objective:
The Receiver will perform the day-to-day operations of warehouse receiving department primarily during the hours of 7am -3:30pm. A Receiver is also responsible for ensuring that produce and dairy products being delivered to Wards Produce are received from its suppliers and stored in the proper manner within the Wards Produce warehouse areas.
Essential Job Functions:
- Organize workflow within the Receiving Department.
- Rotate all products before placing them in the appropriate slot
- Assure safe work practices within the Receiving Department.
- Follow Company policies and procedures.
- Provide proper warehouse and receiving documentation as needed.
- Handle product discrepancies / shortages / other problems.
- Maintain a clean and properly stocked warehouse
- Perform other related duties as may be required.
Working Conditions/Job Environment
- Degrees of physical demands (strength) are usually associated with this position.
- Minimum lift requirement 50-60 lbs. on a regular basis
- Moving pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Frequent stooping and bending
- Working in 36 –40-degree (F) warehouse areas for 7-8 hours on a daily basis
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent industry experience
- Two years of warehouse receiving experience.
- Thorough product knowledge, including acceptable substitutes and frequently ordered items
- Warehouse receiving and storage processes and procedures
- Knowledge of produce types and ability to make judgments on product quality
- Basic knowledge of inventory control
