About the role

At Sulzer, we specialise in rotating equipment services, helping customers improve the reliability and performance of critical assets across a wide range of industries. Our York facility is recognised as a Fabrication and Machining Centre of Excellence, benefiting from significant investment in technology, equipment and capabilities to support continued growth and customer demand.

We are looking for a Metal Spray Operator to join our specialist coatings team.
What you'll be doing

- Preparing customer components for coating, including cleaning, masking and blasting.
- Applying thermal spray coatings using HVOF, Plasma and Wire Spray processes.
- Operating semi-automatic and robotic equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conducting goods-in and in-process inspections.
- Reading engineering drawings and following process documentation.
- Managing powders, jigs and fixtures to support production requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet customer delivery and quality expectations.

What we're looking for

Essential

- Engineering or manufacturing experience.
- Strong focus on health, safety and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

- Thermal spray experience.
- Metrology experience.
- Robot control experience.
- Engineering qualification and/or completed apprenticeship.
- Experience reading engineering drawings.
- Full UK driving licence.
