The Role

We're hiring a Product Manager to own the roadmap for the Observability and Compute/Network teams within Addepar's Foundation Engineering organization. This is a foundational infrastructure role: you'll define and drive the roadmap for how engineers understand the health of their systems (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, on-call tooling, SLOs) and for the compute and networking substrate their services run on (provisioning, container orchestration, networking, security posture, capacity planning, and cost).

You'll work closely with the rest of the Foundation Engineering group to translate reliability risk, infrastructure constraints, and platform strategy into a prioritized, outcome-driven roadmap. This role reports to product leadership within Developer Platform and partners day to day with engineering leadership for Observability and Compute/Network.

What You’ll Do

- Own and evolve the product roadmap for the Observability and Compute/Network teams, spanning metrics/logging/tracing platforms, alerting and on-call tooling, SLO and error-budget frameworks, dashboards, compute provisioning, container orchestration, networking, service mesh, capacity planning, and infrastructure cost management.

- Partner with engineering leads across Foundation Engineering to balance reliability and security risks, developer needs, capacity constraints, and cost, translating those tradeoffs into clearly scoped and sequenced investments.

- Define and track outcomes across reliability, performance, developer experience, and cost—for example, SLO attainment, time to detect and restore service, self-service adoption, provisioning lead time, and infrastructure cost per unit—and use them to prioritize investment.

- Drive the self-service agenda: make instrumentation, dashboards, and compute/network provisioning available through paved paths that are secure and policy-compliant by default, so teams get visibility and capacity without manual tickets or one-off configurations.

- Partner with the Information Security and Risk (ISR) team to translate security requirements and risk findings into roadmap priorities, including secure defaults, access controls, auditability, and risk-based vulnerability remediation across observability and compute/network platforms.

- Gather and synthesize feedback from engineering teams across the organization (via incident retrospectives, on-call surveys, and direct engagement) to identify visibility and infrastructure gaps and translate them into roadmap priorities.

- Represent the Observability and Compute/Network teams' roadmaps to platform leadership, product stakeholders, and cross-functional partners; communicate tradeoffs, sequencing, and progress clearly.

- Monitor industry trends in observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog) and compute/network infrastructure (Kubernetes, service mesh, cloud networking, cost optimization) to inform build-vs-buy and roadmap decisions.

Who You Are

- Prior product management experience, ideally owning infrastructure-facing products (observability, SRE tooling, cloud compute, or networking platforms).

- Demonstrated ability to define a product roadmap and deliver infrastructure capabilities, translating ambiguous reliability and capacity problems into scoped, prioritized work.

- Working technical fluency in observability (metrics, logs, distributed tracing, SLOs/error budgets) or compute and networking (cloud compute, containers/Kubernetes, networking), with the ability to build fluency across both domains and make informed prioritization decisions with engineering partners.

- Track record of managing product development for infrastructure or platform capabilities with multiple engineering stakeholders and competing priorities.

- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills — able to align engineering leads, platform leadership, and product engineering teams around a shared roadmap.

- Ability to prioritize investments based on reliability, security, and cost. (e.g., MTTD/MTTR, SLO attainment, vulnerability remediation SLAs, infrastructure cost efficiency).

- Experience evaluating, delivering, or driving adoption of observability platforms (Sumo Logic, Wavefront, Sentry, or similar) or compute/network tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-provider networking or cost-management tools).

- Familiarity with SRE practices: SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and on-call process design.

- Familiarity with financial services or other regulated-industry engineering environments.

- Experience driving infrastructure adoption and self-service models across a large, distributed engineering organization.

- Experience partnering with globally distributed engineering teams across time zones.

Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this role within the United States.

Compensation for this role includes base salary + bonus + equity + benefits.

Base Salary Range $158,000 — $248,000 USD
