Applications Team Lead

The Applications Team Lead is a key contributor to both sales’ growth and operational excellence. This role combines advanced technical expertise with responsibility for developing innovative automation solutions and improving processes. This role also provides mentorship to junior analysts, fostering technical growth and consistency across the team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

- Create innovative automation concepts that meet customer requirements while adhering to company standards and client specifications. Provide strategic input to ensure solutions align with business objectives.

- Create supporting AutoCAD drawings and operational descriptions in support of the automation concepts developed

- Oversee the work of junior team members, conduct peer reviews, and provide mentorship to support technical growth and consistency.

- Develop cost estimates for the automation concepts developed

- Approve concepts, cost estimates and proposals for management review readiness and ensure compliance with company standards and policies.

- Interface directly with customers to gather technical details and clarify requirements. Communicate concept details effectively to Sales Representatives, Management, Customers, and Project teams.

- Produce turnkey detailed proposals for Projects.

- Demonstrate innovation, efficiency, autonomy and accuracy in managing that part of the quoting process for which he/she is responsible

- Research new products and technologies, liaise with suppliers for technical and cost information, and integrate findings into concept development.

- Provide input to performance reviews for team members

- Store quote-related data (specifications, quotes, estimates, drawings etc.) according to Samuel standards

Position Requirements:

- Collaborate with Sales to define a Win Strategy

- Ability to develop innovative technical concepts and proposals aligned with the Win Strategy

- Excellent Presentation skills

- Sound technical knowledge over a broad range of technology and applications

- Some knowledge of control systems and software

- Proficiency using 2D and 3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create conceptual layout drawings and, as required, 3D machine or tooling imagery

- Meticulous attention to detail

- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language

- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines

Autonomy and Authority

- Works independently within established guidelines and standards; escalates complex or unusual issues to senior authority.

- Review more junior analyst’s work for completeness and technical soundness.

- Responsible for creating and detailing automation projects; work reviewed for completeness and technical soundness.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications :

- College or University degree in engineering or related discipline

- A minimum of 7 years’ automation industry experience

- Experience in machine design is a definite asset

- Ability to run simulation software is an asset

- Valid Passport and driver’s license may be required, as well as the ability to travel to customer sites both locally and internationally

Special Requirements:

- Frequent presence on the shop floor and in engineering areas.

- Occasional travel to customer sites, vendors, or other company locations.

- Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment with competing priorities.

The expected compensation range for this position is $53.96-$74.20. This range includes base pay and target variable pay. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for the role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth.
