Analytical Scientist

Overview

This lab-based role will provide hands-on support for routine pharmaceutical analytical testing through the execution of critical experiments that drive animal health product development.

Compensation: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

- Execute sample testing using analytical techniques including, but not limited to, liquid chromatography (LC) methods such as HPLC, UPLC, and LC-MS, as well as SEC, cIEF, and SDS assays

- Prepare samples, standards, controls, and reagents required for analytical testing

- Perform accurate, precise, and reproducible pipetting to support high-quality analytical testing

- Organize, interpret, and present experimental data to peers to support project advancement

- Run, analyze, and evaluate experiments that support analytical method optimization and product development objectives

- Ensure experiments are well designed and documented with clear objectives

- Technically manage small-scale laboratory projects as required

- Identify process improvement opportunities through data analysis, observation, and technical report writing in collaboration with senior scientists and technicians

- Organize and execute routine experimental work in accordance with established methods, SOPs, and applicable regulatory guidelines

- Ensure high-quality data and documentation practices by authoring technical reports and contributing to the creation of SOPs

- Independently operate and perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment relevant to assigned work

- Recognize and communicate atypical results/deviations and support investigation and resolution as needed

- Accurately document work in batch records and/or electronic laboratory notebooks

- Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to share key learnings to advance portfolio projects and drive new platform innovations

- Adapt to new procedures and evolving project needs in a dynamic R&D environment

- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory work environment and encourage safe behaviors by coworkers

- Contribute to a cohesive team environment and maintain a positive attitude

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline

- Ability to perform high-volume, accurate, and reproducible pipetting

- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, technical curiosity, and high learning agility

- Ability to work independently and collaborate within cross-functional teams

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting technical data

- Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver results

- Demonstrated ownership with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently

- Interest in pharmaceutical science and drug product manufacturing with a willingness to learn and grow in this area

Additional Preferences:

- Hands-on experience with liquid chromatography (LC) techniques, including HPLC, UPLC, and LC-MS

- Knowledge of SEC, cIEF, SDS assays, and other biopharmaceutical analytical techniques

- Familiarity with chromatography data systems and analytical data interpretation

- Ability to interpret analytical data and identify atypical results, trends, or deviations

- Experience supporting analytical method optimization, qualification, or transfer activities

- Understanding of analytical method performance characteristics, including precision, accuracy, reproducibility, and variability assessments

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment

- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
