Job Description
The Regional Turnaround Manager is the regional STO leader responsible for providing planning, readiness, execution support, and post-STO performance improvement across multiple sites. This role serves as the primary connection between site leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, and the central STO organization, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and schedule-compliant execution of Shutdowns, Turnarounds, and Outages throughout the region.
The Regional Turnaround Manager drives standardization, scope discipline, risk mitigation, workforce readiness, and continuous improvement across multiple facilities to improve STO performance and strengthen safety and operational excellence. This role is expected to spend significant time traveling to sites to support STO readiness, active event execution, field assessments, and post-event reviews.
Work schedule: Standard business hours; however flexibility will be required during active shutdown events including extended hours and weekends during execution windows.
Frequent travel is required to support multiple North American sites (including Canada) before, during, and after STO events. The role is expected to spend a significant portion of time at operating locations to support readiness reviews, field execution, stakeholder alignment, and post-event improvement efforts.
This role is a remote position. Candidates must reside within the US and be near a W.R. Grace location.
Responsibilities (1 of 2)
Regional STO Governance & Leadership
• Provide regional leadership and coordination for STO readiness and performance across multiple sites
• Champion STO governance, standards, tools, and best practices throughout the assigned region
• Ensure alignment between site STO priorities and enterprise STO strategy
• Support development of a consistent regional STO culture focused on safety, quality, cost control, and schedule discipline
Multi-Site STO Planning & Readiness
• Support and challenge site STO teams during planning, scope development, risk reviews, and readiness assessments
• Ensure STO scopes are well-defined, justified, prioritized, and aligned with business needs across the region
• Verify that materials, contractor resources, logistics, and critical preparations are in place prior to execution
• Partner with site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability leaders to confirm shutdown readiness, isolation planning, and startup preparation

Execution Support Across Sites
• Provide direct support to site leaders and execution teams during active shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages
• Help remove organizational barriers, escalate issues, and facilitate rapid decision-making during active events
• Monitor regional STO safety, schedule, cost, and quality performance and identify corrective actions where needed
• Reinforce compliance with company safety expectations, work practices, and permit systems across sites
Stakeholder Coordination & Standardization
• Interface with site leadership, regional and central resources, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, planners, schedulers, and contractor leadership
• Promote consistent use of STO processes, templates, readiness reviews, and lessons learned practices across multiple sites
• Align cross-site teams on expectations, roles, governance requirements, and decision-making authority
• Share best practices and learning from one site to improve STO performance at other sites
• Provide or coordinate STO training when necessary to build site capability and reinforce standard processes, roles, and expectations
Post-STO Review & Continuous Improvement
• Lead or support post-STO reviews, lessons learned sessions, and performance critiques across the region
• Ensure corrective actions are captured, assigned, and tracked to completion
• Identify recurring regional gaps and drive improvements in planning quality, readiness, execution discipline, and post-event follow-up
• Support development of regional STO capability through coaching, mentoring, and practical field engagement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in maintenance, operations, reliability, engineering, or turnaround management in an industrial environment
- 5+ years of experience leading Shutdowns, Turnarounds, or Outages
- Experience managing shutdowns with total event budgets in the $1MM to $5MM range
- Strong understanding of STO planning, execution, contractor management, risk management, and industrial safety systems
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple sites, manage multiple shutdown planning efforts simultaneously, and influence teams without direct authority
- Must be able to travel 50-75% across North America (US and Canada)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical, refining, or heavy industrial facilities
- Prior turnaround, outage, or STO leadership experience supporting more than one site
- Familiarity with STO management tools such as Primavera P6, SAP, or Maximo
- Experience building consistency and standardization across decentralized site organizations
