Summary

The Supervisor, Designing and Drafting , manages a group of team members to ensure the needs and objectives of the Engineering Department are provided.  This group assists a team of engineering staff to create and process engineering drawings, Engineering Change Orders, bills of materials, and other related engineering documentation.

Position Responsibilities

- Assigns drafting resources to projects or tasks, and reconciles any group resource conflicts
- Helps define scope of work and work estimates for projects
- Helps assure project progress (technical, cost & schedule), resolves technical issues, and escalates when needed
- Supports the Production, Product Engineering, and Configuration Management Groups with processing drawing releases and revisions
- Ensures the integrity and quality of the Group's output by establishing, maintaining, and enforcing Drafting Group standards, processes & procedures
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in group procedures, and leads initiatives aimed at continual improvement in efficiency & effectiveness of the group
- Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, administration, and training of the engineering product data management system (e.g. SolidWorks EPDM)
- Identifies new resource requirements, recruits, and interviews & hires new employees. Mentors, develops and trains group personnel. Provides training of group and engineering personnel in drafting and GD&T best practices
- Evaluates staff performance, leads regular performance reviews, defines goals for Group in alignment with corporate goals, communicates areas for improvement/positive enforcement, and provides recommendations for compensation & promotions
- Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the creation, review, and change management of engineering drawings and other technical documentation
- Experienced in a Team Leadership role
- Experienced in the creation and review of engineering drawings, and in-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices, Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and other applicable ASME Y14 series standards
- Experienced in the application of aerospace industry configuration management practices
- Experienced with the following types of drawings: machined parts drawings, composite parts drawings, plastic injection molded part drawings, sheet metal fabrication drawings,  source control drawings, specification control drawings, printed circuit board fabrication & assembly drawings, wire assembly drawings, schematics, mechanical assembly drawings, and weldment drawings

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

- Vocational and/or Associate's degree in relevant discipline is preferred
- Supervisory experience of engineering or drafting personnel preferred
- Proficiency in the use of engineering CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) as well as office productivity tools such as MS Office
- Experience with SolidWorks EPDM is preferred
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, leadership and communication (verbal & written) skills

- Ability to work in an office and production environment (Constant)
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

The salary range for this role is:
$98,000 - $149,250
