Home Equity Specialist

Overview

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

This position responsibly educates, advises and guides members/potential members through home equity and second mortgage loan options offered by RIAFCU, on which option is best suited for their needs. Must have excellent interpersonal communication, as we pride ourselves in providing outstanding service to our members.

Knowledge and understanding of financial documents that are needed for a real estate transaction, complies with state and federal law regulations and are within credit union policies and guidelines.

Essential Functions

- Works directly with our Mortgage Sales team to exceed department goals.

- Cross-sell Credit Union products and services as fit for our members.

- Maintain good relationships with members by advising and guiding members throughout the entire loan process.

- Working inbound, outbound and referral opportunities with members and non-members.

- Ability to prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently, to handle large volumes of details.

- Provides excellent member service 100% of the time and communicating on what to expect and setting timelines.

- Takes complete applications and analyzes in order to make an informed loan decision.

- Actively seeks out educational opportunities in the mortgage industry along with attending and participating in events and meetings.

- Maintain filing system and procedures to monitor that the required documentation is received and reviewed in a timely manner.

- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all laws and regulations that are applicable to the duties outlined in this job description and any other duties you may be assigned including but not limited to SAFE Act, NMLS, RESPA, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) policies, procedures and regulations.

- Maintain knowledge of and comply with laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to first, second and secondary market mortgage loans.

- Knowledge of competitors rates, terms, etc.

- Collects and verifies supportive documentation for loan files as required by underwriting guidelines as well as satisfying stipulated conditions.

- Explain reasons for denial and explore options for members when loans are turned down.

- Maintain ongoing communication with your supervisor informing him/her of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within area of responsibility.

- Maintain a professional image and a courteous attitude toward coworkers, members, management, and the community.

Required Education and Experience

- Associates Degree or equivalent work experience

- 2+ years home equity lending experience preferred

- Prior sales experience is desirable

Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. While normal hours of work and days for R.I.A. Federal Credit Union are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., hours for this position reflect administrative attendance, but may vary based on job related requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend considerable time sitting at a desk, completing work using a computer, regularly answers phone calls and interacts with employees at all levels of the organization. The employee will occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position other than some local travel in the Quad City area.
