Veterinary Assistant - Cornelius Veterinary Clinic

Cornelius Veterinary Clinic is seeking an Experienced Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our small-animal team. We primarily care for dogs and cats, with occasional care for rabbits, ferrets, and other small mammals.

What You’ll Do:

- Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and patient care
- Restrain and safely handle patients
- Obtain and record patient vital signs
- Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, and basic procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical monitoring and recovery
- Provide nursing care, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, and monitoring hospitalized patients
- Assist with client communication, patient check-in/check-out, and medication instructions
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces
- Follow OSHA, safety, sanitation, and patient-care protocols

What We’re Looking For:

- High school diploma or equivalent, or currently pursuing one
- Previous veterinary experience is preferred but not required
- Strong animal-handling and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance as needed
- Professional, compassionate, and dependable approach to patient and client care
