System Development Engineer, Marketplace

We are seeking a talented cleared engineer to help enable and expand AWS Marketplace into isolated and government cloud regions. You'll build the tooling, automation, and infrastructure that empower service teams to deploy into new partitions — from infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipelines to regional onboarding automation and operational support tooling. Amazon Web Services is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to join the AWS Marketplace Special Regions Enablement Team (SRET), which owns the infrastructure, automation, and deployment tooling that enables Marketplace services to operate in air-gapped government regions. You'll work across the stack — building CDK constructs, CI/CD pipelines, AI-powered operational tooling, and automation that unblock service teams deploying into classified partitions where standard commercial patterns don't apply.

Key job responsibilities
As a Systems Development Engineer you will:

- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code (CDK/CloudFormation) for deploying Marketplace services into classified partitions

- Build and operate CI/CD pipelines tailored to air-gapped and isolated environments

- Partner directly with service teams to unblock their regional deployments and resolve environment-specific issues

- Drive automation that reduces operational toil and improves deployment velocity across regions

- Contribute to operational readiness reviews and region launch activities

- Troubleshoot complex cross-service and cross-region issues, researching root causes and driving resolution

- Leverage and build AI-powered tooling to accelerate operational workflows and improve developer productivity

- Participate in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical regional services

A day in the life
On a typical day you might troubleshoot a deployment pipeline failure in an isolated partition, build new CDK automation for an upcoming region launch, pair with a service team to resolve a region-specific configuration issue, or design a new approach to automate a previously manual onboarding process. You'll operate with high autonomy, own problems end-to-end, and ship solutions that directly impact when and how services go live for government customers.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

About the team
The AWS Marketplace Special Regions Enablement Team (SRET) enables and supports the expansion of AWS Marketplace into classified and isolated cloud partitions. We build the tooling, automation, and infrastructure that empower service teams to deploy Marketplace capabilities into air-gapped government regions. Our work spans infrastructure-as-code, deployment pipelines, operational readiness, and direct partnership with service teams navigating the unique constraints of high-security environments. We're a small, high-trust team where every engineer has outsized impact.

Basic Qualifications

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 4+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Current, active TS/SCI US Government Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience in an AWS environment, including VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, SQS, CloudFormation and Lambda
- Experience working with or having knowledge of cloud computing and existing cloud technologies

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
