Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
To provide support with general operation duties within the Salvation Army daily structure and offer this support with sensitivity to goals, purposes, and mission of The Salvation Army.
Accountabilities:
- Offers support and reports to the Area Commander with reference to employee relations.
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Must adhere to the local commitment statement within the ministry unit.
- Assists with recruitment of new applicants, in consultation with leadership.
- Performs office duties such as answering telephone, direct enquiries, and answers inquiries.
- Intercepts visitors with the expectation of expediting concerns quickly or then directs them to the appropriate person (s)
- Files documents electronically or manually; photocopies and distributes materials as requested and sends or receives fax/email material as requested.
- Collects from mailbox daily, opens and distributes incoming mail and processes outgoing mail.
- Assist PR Department distributes communications to donors.
- Uses microsoft office for routine documentation such as forms, letters, memos, emails, policies & procedures and record keeping. Checks typing for accuracy, plus sorts and prioritizes typing assignments within general guidelines.
- Maintains adequate office supplies from stationery to boardroom items i.e., cups, printer toners,etc.
- Builds and maintains databases (e.g., employee, volunteer information, contact lists).
- Drafts and prepares presentations, brochures, flyers, advertisements, invitations, certificates subject to Area Commanders approval.
- Arranges maintenance of office equipment and all other areas of the facility..
- Supports leadership as necessary.
- Prepare and process invoices , and maintain Business World as necessary.
- Recording of various meeting minutes and distribute.
- Performs other office-related duties/operations as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The postholder will be required to work in an office environment where he/she will be in a shared work- space but have their own desk, computer, and space for filing information.
- The performance of the job requires a moderate amount of keyboarding, manual record keeping, and lifting various donations. The incumbent must be of good physical and mental health.
- The performance of the job requires attentive listening and observation of body language, continuously monitoring the environment, multi-tasking, and reviews.
- The incumbent’s work environment is typically in an office setting, however, may expand to other venues of the Bermuda Community Services..
The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
- Dealing with angry people and verbal abuse
- Abusive people
- An ever-changing work schedule
- Exposure to bodily fluids and bodily waste
- Exposure to drugs and alcohol
The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illness due to:
- Physical attacks by others
- Exposure to infectious diseases
- Exposure to bodily fluids
- Sharp objects
- Other potentially dangerous situations
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of a formal post-secondary program of two academic years in a related field or Business Administration experience of no less than 5 years.
- Be employed in a related field with work experience or on-the-job training.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is BD$42,540.07 to BD$53,175.09 with a maximum of BD$63,810.10.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
