As an Advisor I, Accounting supporting our Gas Accounting organization, you will help maintain accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial information for Phillips 66’s Natural Gas business. You’ll work with accounting data, business partners, service providers, and financial systems to support reporting, controls, issue resolution, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to build practical accounting expertise while contributing to work that connects operational activity with business results.
What You’ll Do
- Perform professional accounting activities supporting Gas Accounting, including ledgers, journal entries, reconciliations, settlements, estimates, accruals, and close support.
- Collect, organize, and analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, explain variances, and support accurate reporting and business decisions.
- Review Gas-related transactions and data for completeness, accuracy, proper classification, and alignment with underlying business activity; escalate unusual or noncompliant items as appropriate.
- Prepare clear reports, presentations, account analyses, and supporting documentation for management, audit, compliance, and control activities.
- Provide information and guidance on accounting processes, policies, and system workflows; resolve routine questions and refer matters requiring policy interpretation or additional approval.
- Support internal controls and audit activities by reviewing control execution, maintaining reliable evidence, identifying gaps, and helping address exceptions.
- Use financial, reconciliation, close, workflow, analytical, and standard office systems to manage data, support reporting, and improve the quality and timeliness of accounting work.
- Contribute to process improvements, knowledge sharing, and coordination with internal partners and managed-service providers while maintaining accountability for assigned commitments.
What You’ll Bring - Required
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Typically 5 or more years of progressive experience in accounting, financial operations, energy marketing accounting, or a closely related field
- Intermediate proficiency with accounting fundamentals, journal entries, ledgers, reconciliations, or financial reporting
- Intermediate proficiency using standard office software and financial data, reconciliation, close, workflow, or analytical systems
What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, settlements, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with Natural Gas accounting in the oil and gas, energy marketing, commodity trading, or midstream industry
- Experience coordinating work with Capgemini or another managed-service provider
- Experience with Allegro, SAP S/4, BlackLine, Alteryx, MDG, or comparable enterprise resource planning, energy trading, close, workflow, or master-data systems
- Experience supporting complex assets, pools, strategies, balancing, transfer pricing, intercompany validation, margins, estimates, or SOX review
- Experience leading cross-functional issue resolution, UAT, system integration, process redesign, or continuous improvement
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward a professional accounting certification
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, data analysis, and working with large or imperfect data sets
- Experience coordinating cross-functional issue resolution or influencing outcomes without formal authority
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $96,300 – $117,700.
