The Role:

We are looking for a deeply technical, hands-on Blue Prism specialist who can work across automation development, production operations, solution architecture, platform engineering, and technical problem-solving.

This is an individual contributor role . It is not a delivery-management, project-management, or people-management position. The successful candidate will be expected to personally design, build, troubleshoot, deploy, support, and improve enterprise-grade Blue Prism solutions.

This role is suited to engineers who enjoy working directly with technology, solving complex production issues, understanding systems end to end, and expanding their skills across multiple technologies as the automation landscape evolves.

What You Will Get To Do:

- Design, build, test, deploy, and support complex enterprise automation solutions using Blue Prism
- Own automation solutions across their complete lifecycle, including discovery, feasibility assessment, design, development, release, production support, optimization, and retirement
- Develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable Blue Prism processes and business objects
- Work extensively with Process Studio, Object Studio, Control Room, Work Queues, Schedules, Credentials, Environment Variables, Releases, and Runtime Resources
- Design robust exception-handling, recovery, retry, logging, alerting, and operational-support frameworks
- Troubleshoot complex automation failures across Blue Prism, applications, databases, APIs, virtual machines, credentials, and infrastructure components
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring production issues and implement permanent technical fixes
- Monitor live automations, analyse operational performance, and improve stability, resilience, recoverability, and throughput
- Design automation architecture for new and existing processes, including component design, integration patterns, deployment models, and support models
- Review and refactor poorly designed, unstable, or difficult-to-maintain automation solutions
- Integrate Blue Prism with web applications, Windows applications, Java applications, mainframe systems, Citrix environments, APIs, databases, file systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and enterprise platforms
- Build and consume REST and SOAP services and work with XML, JSON, authentication, certificates, tokens, and secure credentials
- Work closely with infrastructure, architecture, information security, database, application-support, and business teams to resolve technical dependencies
- Support Blue Prism environment upgrades, migrations, configuration changes, patching, capacity planning, and platform improvements
- Participate in technical design reviews and challenge solutions that are not scalable, secure, supportable, or operationally resilient
- Create clear technical documentation, including solution designs, operational runbooks, deployment instructions, support procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Conduct technical code reviews and enforce Blue Prism engineering standards and reusable design patterns
- Support release, change, incident, and problem-management activities for production automations
- Contribute to automation engineering standards, platform governance, reusable frameworks, and Centre of Excellence practices
- Evaluate and learn additional technologies that complement Blue Prism and improve automation capability
- Work hands-on with adjacent technologies such as APIs, SQL, scripting, cloud services, monitoring, and platform tooling
- Take full technical ownership of assigned solutions without relying on separate development, support, or architecture teams to solve core engineering problems
- Continuously expand technical capability by learning and applying multiple technologies based on business and platform needs

What You Will Bring:

- 7+ years of overall technology experience, with substantial hands-on experience developing enterprise automations using Blue Prism
- At least 5 years of recent, continuous, hands-on Blue Prism development experience
- Strong practical expertise in Blue Prism Process Studio and Object Studio
- Deep understanding of Blue Prism application modelling, spying techniques, dynamic attributes, wait stages, collections, work queues, environment variables, credentials, schedules, sessions, and runtime resources
- Demonstrated experience building complex Blue Prism solutions rather than only maintaining, monitoring, or coordinating automation projects
- Strong experience supporting Blue Prism automations in production environments
- Proven ability to diagnose failures involving Blue Prism, target applications, virtual machines, databases, APIs, access permissions, credentials, certificates, and infrastructure
- Strong understanding of exception handling, retry design, recovery stages, logging, auditability, transaction management, and operational resilience
- Experience designing reusable Blue Prism components, frameworks, templates, and utility objects
- Strong understanding of enterprise automation architecture and the technical dependencies required to run Blue Prism at scale
- Experience integrating Blue Prism with REST APIs, SOAP services, XML, JSON, databases, file systems, and enterprise applications
- Good working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write queries, analyse data, troubleshoot database-related issues, and support integrations
- Experience with at least one programming or scripting technology such as C#, .NET, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or VBA
- Ability to read and troubleshoot code, scripts, API payloads, logs, configuration files, and database queries
- Experience automating browser-based, desktop, Java, Citrix, virtual desktop, and legacy applications
- Understanding of Blue Prism infrastructure, including application servers, interactive clients, runtime resources, databases, virtual machines, connectivity, and environment configuration
- Experience with production monitoring, incident management, problem management, change management, and release management
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, release controls, security controls, and enterprise development standards
- Ability to independently convert business requirements into technically sound automation designs
- Ability to assess automation feasibility, identify technical risks, estimate complexity, and recommend practical solutions
- Strong debugging, analytical, and root-cause-analysis skills
- High level of ownership and willingness to remain hands-on throughout the solution lifecycle
- Willingness and ability to learn multiple technologies beyond Blue Prism
- Ability to adapt to new tools, platforms, programming languages, integration methods, and automation technologies based on business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when explaining technical issues and design decisions
- Ability to work effectively with globally distributed technical and business teams

This Role May Not Be Suitable for You If:

- Your recent experience has primarily been in project management, delivery management, team management, or stakeholder coordination
- You have worked mainly as a Blue Prism Control Room operator or production-monitoring analyst
- You have limited recent hands-on experience building Blue Prism processes and business objects
- You prefer to hand off architecture, development, deployment, or production troubleshooting to separate teams
- You are looking only for a narrowly defined Blue Prism development role and are not interested in learning additional technologies
- You are not comfortable personally investigating and resolving complex technical and production issues
- Your experience is primarily with other RPA platforms and you have only limited exposure to Blue Prism

Preferred Qualifications:

- Blue Prism Developer, Professional Developer, Technical Architect, or equivalent certification
- Experience working in large-scale, regulated enterprise environments
- Experience with Blue Prism platform upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, infrastructure design, or environment administration
- Experience with Blue Prism Hub, Interact, Capture, or Process Intelligence
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts, automated deployments, monitoring tools, and DevOps practices
- Experience working with financial services, healthcare, insurance, banking, or other regulated industries
