SCOPE OF ROLE:

Clean & inspect optical components and mounts and assemble optical sub-assemblies and final assemblies. This job requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity. The ability to follow work instructions and the ability to make decisions at various stages of assembly are keys to success for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Optical Systems Team is currently looking for a Systems Technician I for manufacturing operations. The right person will become an integral member of the SYSTEMS production team. Key success criteria for this position are customer satisfaction as measured by product quality, on-time delivery, and high productivity. Specific job responsibilities include:

• Clean & inspect optical components and mounts

1. Use of MIL spec to inspect optical components with clear apertures

2. Ability to read engineering drawings to determine specs.

3. Post-alignment/assembly cleaning and inspection

• Assemble and Bond lens elements within mounts and barrels according to procedures

1. Techniques for mounting and bonding lens elements within barrels - passive alignment

• Verification of sub-assemblies and final assemblies

1. Tools and Techniques for diagnostics of sub-assemblies and final assemblies for failure mode.

• Maintain Assembly Tools and Area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO protocols.

• Complete and charge time to work orders and maintain job specific paperwork throughout the process.

• Follow clean room protocols.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will have a clear desire to succeed and be effective working in a fast-paced environment. On a personal level, the candidate will exhibit the highest standards of integrity, deliver upon all commitments, and be a highly motivated, team player.

• Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent. In the absence of Diploma or GED, 2+ years of relevant work experience or 2+ years of working in an optics or photonics field/manufacturing environment preferred.

• Basic computer skills.

• Clear communication skills.

• Strong technical aptitude and work ethic.

• Excels at performing consistent re-occurring tasks over a duration of time.

• Able to learn new skills and job functions.

• Works well in a team environment.

• Initiative to perform a variety of tasks to meet desired goals.

• Very good manual dexterity.

• May require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.

• Occasional lifting up to 15 – 45 lbs. as needed.

• Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.

• Capable of working in an ITAR registered facility.

• Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require.

DESIRED TRAITS:

• Direct experience with the handling, processing, and cleaning of optical lenses and filters.

• Experience working with lasers, sub-component assemblies, or optics.

• Good written and oral communication skills, ability to read and comprehend work instructions.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $42,500.00 - $63,700.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
