This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain & Lake Club, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California.

Homewood is seeking a Bartender to join the Food & Beverage Department.
Job Summary:

The Bartender at 89 Bar & Grill will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and ensuring an exceptional experience for our guests. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about mixology, enjoys interacting with people, and thrives in a lively environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Mix and serve a wide range of beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks, according to standardized recipes and guest preferences.
- Greet guests warmly, take drink orders efficiently, and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their visit.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the bar menu, including specialty cocktails, drink ingredients, and food pairings. Offer recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Accurately take guest orders, process payments, and ensure timely delivery of beverages.
- Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., glassware, garnishes, liquor). Regularly check inventory and communicate needs to the Bar Manager.
- Adhere to all state and local laws regarding alcohol service, including checking IDs and refusing service to intoxicated guests when necessary.
- Suggest additional items such as food, specialty drinks, or desserts to enhance the guest experience and increase sales.
- Work closely with other restaurant staff, including servers and kitchen personnel, to ensure smooth operations and a positive dining experience for all guests.
- Manage cash and credit card transactions accurately, balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Assist with special events, private parties, and promotional activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum of 1 year of previous bartending experience, preferably in a fast paced, high-end establishment required.
- Advanced knowledge of food service, bar operations, and guest service standards required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and composure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with team members.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-moving environment with minimal supervision.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to step into multiple roles as needed.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt quickly based on business levels.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and maintain a strong work ethic.
- Current Food Handler and California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certifications (or ability to obtain prior to start date).

- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required based on business demand
- Ability to stay calm and focused during high-volume service periods
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, standing and walking for extended periods, and lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $21-$23 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
