About the Position
The Manager of Marketing and Communications is a full-time role responsible for driving APR's enrollment marketing strategy, managing the school's external communications and brand presence, and supporting APR's talent marketing efforts. This role is central to APR's ability to attract and enroll Boston families — particularly in an increasingly competitive charter school landscape — while also strengthening APR's reputation as a destination employer for mission-driven educators and staff.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this role requires a skilled communicator and strategic thinker who brings marketing expertise, strong writing and project management skills, and a genuine commitment to APR's mission and community.
Primary Responsibilities
Enrollment Marketing and Campaign Strategy
- Build an annual campaign plan designed to increase awareness of APR among Boston families and generate prospective-family interest.
- Define target audiences, priority neighborhoods, campaign channels, timing, and investment strategy.
- Translate APR's academic programs and student opportunities into clear, compelling messages for families.
- Develop cohesive campaign concepts that carry consistently across multiple channels.
- Lead development of campaign messaging, copy, visual identity, and creative assets.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across advertising, digital, print, community outreach, and other channels.
- Manage the enrollment marketing calendar from planning through launch and ongoing execution.
- Coordinate with APR teams to gather content, materials, and approvals needed to execute marketing campaigns.
- Support in moving families through enrollment funnel from awareness of APR, to application, accepting an offer, completing registration, and ultimately enrolling at the school. This could include, but is not limited to, supporting Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement with family outreach and tours, and student onboarding
- Partner with the Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement to support families from initial awareness of APR through application, offer acceptance, registration, and enrollment, including family outreach, tours, and new student onboarding.
Talent Marketing
- Support the development of APR's employer brand, ensuring external communications reflect APR as a destination employer for mission-driven educators and staff.
- Collaborate with the CHCO to develop recruitment marketing materials and campaigns.
- Manage APR's presence across job boards and recruitment platforms including LinkedIn, Indeed, EdJobs, and others, ensuring postings are current, compelling, and consistent with APR's employer brand.
- Ensure the careers page and social media consistently reflect APR's culture, values, and professional growth opportunities.
- Participate in phone screens and interviews as a culture and brand ambassador.
Paid Media and Vendor Management
- Develop and manage APR's paid media strategy, identifying the appropriate mix of digital, social, transit, out-of-home, radio, direct mail, print, and other advertising channels.
- Coordinate advertising placement and purchasing.
- Manage relationships with media outlets and advertising vendors.
- Coordinate production of print materials, digital assets, photography, and video.
- Manage external designers, photographers, videographers, agencies, or other creative vendors as needed.
- Monitor campaign performance and shift investments based on results.
- Identify and test new channels for reaching Boston families.
Prospective Family Engagement
- Create simple, accessible mechanisms for prospective families to express interest.
- Partner with APR staff to create a seamless handoff of prospective-family leads to the enrollment team.
- Identify opportunities for community advertising, outreach, partnerships, and physical presence.
Website and Social Media
- Establish the vision for and own the curation of the APR website, ensuring it is current, compelling, and aligned with enrollment and brand goals.
- Develop and manage APR's social media presence across relevant platforms, maintaining a consistent voice and cadence.
- Produce and publish digital content that reflects APR's mission, community, and student experience.
- Manage APR's LinkedIn presence as both a community-facing and talent-facing channel.
APR Events
- Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement to plan and execute APR's signature community and enrollment events, including open houses, prospective family information sessions, and school tours.
- Partner with school leadership, enrollment, and operations teams to align event programming with APR's brand, mission, and enrollment goals.
- Create and manage event marketing and outreach strategies to drive attendance and awareness across target audiences.
- Oversee production of event materials including signage, programs, digital assets, and promotional content.
- Capture and leverage event content for social media, website, and ongoing marketing use.
- Track event attendance, lead generation, and outcomes; use data to inform future event strategy.

The Ideal Candidate Has
- 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field; nonprofit or education experience a plus.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing multi-channel marketing or communications campaigns.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing vendors, agencies, and external partners.
- Familiarity with paid media strategy and digital advertising platforms.
- Experience managing social media and digital platforms including LinkedIn.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing complex logistics and timelines.
- A collaborative, mission-driven approach and genuine commitment to APR's students and community.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.

- Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
