The Strategic Initiatives team runs the high-consequence cross-organizational work in the portfolio: mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; AI Accelerate; AI compliance; risk, security and compliance; and net-new growth initiatives the leadership team elects to back. The team's mandate is to test, incubate, execute and run these efforts until committed end state is landed, with impact captured on the way out. As a Business Strategy Manager, you will set direction and lead a portfolio of high-consequence strategic initiatives from incubation through execution and operational landing. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Engineering, CSS, CXA, MCAPS, Finance, and other functions, shaping choices, aligning investment, and mobilizing teams around the highest-value opportunities. You will establish the conditions for ideas to be tested quickly, determine what should scale, pivot, or stop, and hold leaders accountable for successfully transitioning proven capabilities into ongoing operations. This team serves as Microsoft's proving ground for new ways of working. You will help incubate emerging opportunities, pressure-test them in real-world environments, and integrate successful solutions into the broader organization. You will be expected to leverage AI-first approaches, including agents, automation, and reusable prompt assets, to accelerate execution, improve decision-making, and scale impact. Success in this role is measured by initiatives that achieve their intended outcomes, operating models that are adopted by the business, and capabilities that successfully transition from experimentation to sustained organizational value. Responsibilities <ul><li>You will think boldly about how work could be done differently, opening the aperture to what is possible with AI and pressure-testing the status quo rather than optimizing around it.</li><li>You will lead a cross-functional team to define the future-state, AI-first operating model for assigned workstreams, including the vision, workflows, requirements and roadmap from today’s model to that future.</li><li>You will provide frameworks, methodologies, and advisory support to business teams, equipping them to apply a consistent approach to designing and adopting AI-first ways of working You will critically assess the current state, develop and evaluate future-state options, and pressure-test recommendations to ensure rigorous, feasible, and grounded in evidence.</li><li>You will conduct strategic analyses and integrate external research and best practice on AI-first operating models with Microsoft’s own data and input so recommendations.</li></ul> Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications<div><ul><li>Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 3+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience<ul><li>OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience</li><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul></div><div>Additional or preferred qualifications<div><ul><li>Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 6+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience<ul><li>OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience</li><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li><li>3+ years experience in Strategy, Management Consulting, and/or Finance.</li></ul></div></div> Business Strategy IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
