CACI is preparing for an exciting modernization effort with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This new program will be a transformational initiative that will reshape how the VA manages acquisition, contracting, and enterprise-wide data. As the VA moves toward a modern, secure, and integrated CMS environment, our team will play a pivotal role in delivering the technology, expertise, and innovative problem solving required to support the nation’s veterans.

CACI is building a team of experts who thrive in challenging modernization environments as this program calls for high-impact technical leaders, forward-thinking engineers and mission-focused professionals. We are currently hiring an Appian Business Analyst to join this dynamic team.

The Appian Business Analyst will work within Agile delivery pods to elicit requirements, develop user stories, and validate Appian-based solutions for a this enterprise acquisition system modernization. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with business process modeling, and the ability to bridge business needs with technical implementation, supporting 26,000+ users transitioning to a unified Appian-based platform.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:

- Elicit and document business requirements from Federal acquisition stakeholders, translating needs into detailed user stories with acceptance criteria for Appian developers
- Analyze current-state acquisition business processes and workflows, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement through Appian configuration
- Collaborate with Appian developers to validate technical solutions align with business requirements and Federal acquisition regulations (FAR/VAAR)
- Develop functional specifications, process flow diagrams, and business rules documentation supporting Appian GAM configuration decisions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives, serving as proxy Product Owner when needed
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, developing test scenarios based on acquisition workflows and supporting end-user validation
- Support requirements traceability from initial elicitation through acceptance, ensuring alignment to contract deliverables and government priorities
- Analyze Appian platform capabilities (workflows, forms, rules, interfaces) to recommend configuration-first solutions that minimize customization
- Partner with training team to develop role-based training content and in-application guidance based on configured workflows
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by analyzing user feedback, help desk trends, and operational metrics

Qualifications:
Required:

- US Citizen with ability to pass Tier 2 background investigation
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis or systems analysis, with at least 2 years supporting software implementations or system modernization projects
- Strong requirements elicitation, documentation, and user story development skills
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and sprint-based delivery
- Proficiency with business process modeling and workflow diagramming tools (Visio, or similar)
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Desired:

- Appian platform experience or similar low-code/no-code solutions
- Knowledge of Federal acquisition lifecycle, contracting processes, or FAR/VAAR regulations
- Experience supporting Federal government system modernization programs
- Understanding of Federal financial systems or ERP implementations
- Proficiency with requirements management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence)
- Prior experience with UAT planning, test case development, and defect triage
- Background in change management or user adoption activities
- SQL knowledge for data analysis or validation
- Experience working with contract writing systems, procurement platforms, or acquisition tools
- Familiarity with API integrations, system interfaces, or data migration projects
- Understanding of Section 508 accessibility requirements and user experience design principles

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$75,200-$158,100
