About the Role

Detroit Labs is looking for a Senior .NET Developer to join an existing client team at a leading global supplier of automotive interior systems. You'll work alongside their in-house developers to upgrade legacy applications used internally by teams across the business.

Part of this role is working directly with stakeholders to understand how their teams work and turning that into clear requirements. The larger part is writing clean, efficient, scalable code that holds up over time. We're looking for someone who is curious by nature and takes real ownership of their work. Understanding the big picture behind every feature you build, including how it connects to the other systems and teams that depend on it will help you be successful in this position.

Requirements

- 10+ years of professional experience developing enterprise applications in the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET, C#)
- Experience working in Visual Studio
- Strong front-end skills with jQuery, HTML, and CSS
- Experience with SQL Server, including creating and updating stored procedures
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Kendo UI (optional)
- A systems-minded approach to software engineering, with sound judgment about how business processes should work
- Curious mindset, and willingness to turn fuzzy business needs into working systems
- Clear, direct communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A track record of owning your work from requirements through delivery
- Experience modernizing or upgrading legacy applications is a plus
- Detroit Labs is not currently able to hire candidates who will reside outside of the United States during their term of employment

Responsibilities

- Upgrade and modernize legacy internal applications using ASP.NET and C#
- Write clean, efficient, and scalable code that is easy for the team to maintain
- Build and update front-end features using jQuery, HTML, CSS, and Kendo UI where applicable
- Design, write, and maintain SQL Server stored procedures and database logic
- Meet with stakeholders to ask good questions, clarify business needs, and define requirements
- Understand how each feature affects connected systems and flag risks early
- Take ownership of features from planning through release and support
- Participate in code reviews and help maintain high engineering standards
- Collaborate closely with the client's existing development team
