This is reflected in our commitment to engage, hire, and retain bright, committed people to work in partnership within an inclusive environment that allows each person to achieve personal success and add value to our teams and communities.

Piper Sandler is seeking a Vice President to join the Financial Services Group’s Debt Capital Markets/Syndicate team in our New York City office. This role will focus on the execution and syndication of debt capital markets transactions for financial institution clients, including banks, specialty finance companies, insurance companies, and other financial services businesses.

The Vice President will work closely with senior bankers, fixed income sales and trading professionals, issuers, investors, legal counsel, and other transaction partners to manage the marketing, pricing, allocation, and closing of debt offerings. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of debt capital markets, sound judgment in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to lead transaction teams while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

This is a syndicate-focused role and differs from a traditional Debt Capital Markets coverage or advisory position. The role will emphasize transaction execution, investor engagement, market analysis, order book management, pricing strategy, allocations, and coordination across internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the day-to-day execution of public and private debt offerings from initial transaction preparation through pricing, allocation, closing, and post-closing activities.
- Partner with senior bankers and DCM leadership to develop transaction strategies, including structure, marketing approach, timing, pricing expectations, investor targeting, and allocation recommendations.
- Monitor market conditions, credit spreads, comparable debt securities, investor demand, and relevant macroeconomic and sector trends to inform transaction execution and pricing decisions.
- Develop and maintain detailed analyses of comparable securities, including pricing, structure, ratings, maturity, call features, size, issuer characteristics, and secondary market performance.
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of transaction materials, including investor presentations, pricing updates, transaction summaries, order book reports, and other internal and client-facing communications.
- Organize and manage deal-related investor outreach, including roadshows, investor calls, management presentations, and other marketing activities.
- Work closely with fixed income sales and trading teams to assess investor interest, consolidate feedback, track indications of interest, and communicate updates to senior bankers and clients.
- Manage the order book and support real-time analysis of investor demand, order quality, price sensitivity, and potential execution outcomes.
- Prepare and present pricing and allocation recommendations, incorporating investor feedback, transaction objectives, market conditions, and applicable allocation guidelines.
- Coordinate allocations, confirmations, closing documentation, wire instructions, and other transaction deliverables to support an efficient and accurate closing process.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external transaction participants, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of execution issues.
- Review transaction materials and analyses prepared by Associates and Analysts for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to applicable policies and procedures.
- Lead and mentor Associates and Analysts, providing guidance on transaction execution, market analysis, investor communication, order book management, and professional development.
- Help establish and improve syndicate processes, tools, reporting, and transaction execution practices across the Financial Services Group.
- Support the development of client and investor relationships through consistent, thoughtful, and responsive engagement.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, including market updates, transaction ideas, client materials, and internal discussions regarding potential financing opportunities.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, market conventions, and best practices governing debt capital markets transactions.
- Participate in recruiting, training, and other franchise-building initiatives for the Financial Services Group.
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field required.
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in debt capital markets, fixed income syndicate, investment banking, capital markets, or a related financial services role.
- Demonstrated experience executing debt offerings, preferably for financial institution or other financial services clients.
- Strong understanding of debt capital markets products, transaction structures, primary market execution, investor distribution, pricing, allocations, and closing processes.
- Experience working with fixed income sales and trading professionals, institutional investors, issuers, senior bankers, legal counsel, and other transaction stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze comparable debt securities and translate market data into actionable pricing, marketing, and execution recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transactions and competing priorities in a time-sensitive, high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage deal teams, delegate effectively, review work product, and develop junior professionals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Investment Banking, Fixed Income Sales and Trading, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Accounting, and other internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, Intex, Dealogic, or other capital markets and financial information platforms preferred.
- FINRA licensing, including Series 7, Series 63, and Series 79 or the ability to obtain required licenses within the applicable timeframe.

Preferred Experience

- Prior experience with debt issuance and syndication for banks, insurance companies, specialty finance companies, or other financial institutions is preferred.
- Familiarity with senior unsecured debt, subordinated debt, preferred securities, regulatory capital, private placements, securitizations, or other financial services financing products.
- Experience managing live transactions and making time-sensitive recommendations regarding pricing, order book development, and allocations.
