Position Summary
Join our Laboratory Services team as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) and play a vital role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic testing that supports exceptional patient care. In this role, you will perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing, maintain quality standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- ##### Perform authorized moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- ##### Process, analyze, and report laboratory specimens accurately and efficiently.
- ##### Follow laboratory protocols for specimen handling, testing, documentation, and record retention.
- ##### Perform and document quality control, calibration, maintenance, and proficiency testing activities.
- ##### Identify test system issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- ##### Maintain compliance with CLIA requirements and laboratory accreditation standards.
- ##### Ensure accurate reporting of patient results and adherence to quality assurance practices.
- ##### Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- ##### Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- ##### Work independently while exercising sound judgment and seeking guidance when appropriate.
- ##### Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all laboratory safety standards.
Qualifications
Education
One of the following is required:
- ##### Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology program, OR
- ##### Bachelor's degree in a laboratory-related science such as Biology or Chemistry with relevant laboratory training or experience.
Experience
- ##### Minimum of one year of full-time clinical laboratory experience required.
Certification
- ##### ASCP, ASCPi, AMT, MLS (ASCP), or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist certification required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- ##### Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- ##### Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- ##### Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- ##### Basic computer proficiency.
- ##### Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- ##### Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- ##### Commitment to quality, accuracy, and patient safety.
