Position Purpose
The 5 Star Decorator is responsible for creating visually appealing, high-quality decorated cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and specialty desserts that exceed customer expectations. This position combines artistic creativity, product quality, and exceptional customer service while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. The 5 Star Decorator plays a key role in driving bakery sales through custom designs, seasonal displays, and premium cake decorating expertise.
Key Responsibilities Cake Decorating & Production
- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items according to company standards and customer specifications.
- Design and create custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and other special events.
- Produce attractive, consistent, and high-quality products while meeting production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Utilize various decorating techniques including piping, icing, fondant, airbrushing, and specialty finishes.
- Maintain product freshness, quality, and presentation standards.
Customer Service
- Assist customers with cake orders, design selections, and product recommendations.
- Interpret customer requests and provide creative solutions to meet their needs.
- Ensure custom orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
Merchandising & Sales
- Create visually appealing bakery displays that drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
- Maintain attractive presentation of decorated cakes and bakery products in display cases.
- Support promotional events, holidays, and seasonal merchandising initiatives.
- Monitor inventory levels of decorating supplies and communicate needs to bakery leadership.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly store, label, and rotate products according to company standards.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Team Support
- Collaborate with bakery team members to ensure efficient department operations.
- Assist with bakery production and customer service needs as business demands require.
- Share decorating knowledge and help train new bakery associates when assigned.
- Support department goals for sales, shrink control, and customer satisfaction.
