Position Purpose

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing all aspects of bakery operations, including sales, production, merchandising, customer service, food safety, inventory management, and associate development. This position helps ensure the bakery department achieves sales and profitability goals while maintaining exceptional product quality and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations

- Assist in directing daily bakery department operations to ensure efficient workflow and execution.

- Support production planning to maintain appropriate product levels based on sales forecasts and customer demand.

- Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation standards throughout the department.

- Ensure adherence to company merchandising and display standards.

- Assist in executing seasonal promotions, special events, and holiday programs.

Leadership & Team Development

- Provide leadership and direction to bakery associates in the absence of the Bakery Manager.

- Assist with training, coaching, and developing associates on production standards, customer service, food safety, and company policies.

- Help create a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.

- Participate in scheduling and labor management to support operational needs.

- Support performance management and recognition initiatives.

Customer Service

- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure customer concerns are resolved promptly and professionally.

- Assist customers with special orders, cake requests, product selection, and service needs.

- Promote a customer-focused culture throughout the department.

- Build customer loyalty through product knowledge and quality service.

Inventory & Financial Management

- Assist with ordering, inventory control, and product replenishment.

- Monitor department shrink and implement strategies to reduce waste.

- Support achievement of department sales, gross profit, and expense objectives.

- Help ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.

Food Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

- Enforce company policies related to food handling, product storage, and department operations.

- Support department readiness for internal audits and inspections.

Production Support

- Participate in bakery production activities including baking, packaging, decorating, and product preparation as needed.

- Ensure production schedules are completed accurately and on time.

- Maintain high standards of product quality and consistency.
