Location: 2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705
The Peds Transplant & Cellular Therapy (DCT 4A) is comprised of 17 beds and serves a blended patient population of pediatric transplant, cell therapy and general pediatric oncology, with an emphasis on high-risk oncology. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. The DCT4A team cares for oncology and sickle cell patients, as well as patients with metabolic and genetic disorders.
Schedule:
- Full Time: Monday - Friday, with off shift visibility and on call 24/7 including weekends to support the needs of the unit.

How you will make an impact
- Serve as the clinical and operational leader for the Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit, partnering with medical directors, Duke Children's leadership, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Manage and supervise functions of the assigned patient care area on a 24-hour basis, ensuring effective clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.
- Participate in clinical area strategic and operational planning; support a professional practice model, communicate the unit and organization mission, and advocate for staff and patients.
- Interface with patients and families, ensure use of the nursing process from admission through discharge and beyond, and serve as a professional role model, mentor, and change agent.
- Manage, supervise, and coordinate patient care delivery; ensure compliance with clinical standards and participation in department- and organization-wide councils and committees.
- Maintain clinical competency and provide bedside care as needed; assess, coach, and evaluate staff practice and foster continued clinical development.
- Oversee quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, operational efficiency, resource management activities, and policy improvements.
- Oversee personnel actions, staffing, budgets, documentation, resources, and interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal patient and family outcomes.
What you will need
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
- Master's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.
- Three years of nursing experience is required.
- Current or compact RN licensure in the State of North Carolina is required.
- BCLS certification is required.
