Home services is a $750B+ industry, yet many of its most important operational decisions are still made manually. Dispatch is one of the clearest examples - every day, dispatchers make thousands of decisions about which technician should be assigned to which job, balancing urgency, skill set, location, availability, job value, and other variables in real time.

We’re building systems that can reason through that complexity and act on it in real time. Rather than adding AI to individual features, we’re building a vertically integrated operational layer across dispatch, validation, customer communication, and other core business functions.

Today, Probook powers leading home service businesses across the country, helping them automate and coordinate these workflows through a single system.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for our first dedicated Infrastructure Engineer to build the foundation for the next generation of products and engineering at Probook. This is a high leverage role that will allow us to unlock our next stage of development and scaling.

Our products are real-time decision systems that operate across complex, time-sensitive workflows. As they continue to evolve, so do the challenges around durable execution, workflow orchestration, reliability, observability, and performance. In other words, the infrastructure underneath becomes a core part of what we’re able to build and our biggest differentiator.

As an agent-native engineering org, that extends to how we build as well. You’ll build agent infrastructure that lets engineers develop, evaluate, and ship faster - from agent sandboxes and evaluation infra to custom harnesses, coding-agent fleets, and agent orchestration.

This role will sit across both product and agent infrastructure. You’ll own the production infrastructure for our operational AI products while also experimenting with models, harnesses, and the systems that further unlock how our engineering team works. That’s what makes this role different from your typical Infrastructure role - you’re not just scaling or maintaining existing systems - you’re creating the technical foundation that unlocks us and lets us build more ambitious products and ship them at unprecedented speed.

There’s a lot of greenfield work here. You’ll have broad ownership over what we build, what we improve, and how our infrastructure evolves as the company scales.

What You’ll Do

Agent Infra + Developer Tooling

- Build agent sandboxes and evaluation infrastructure that allows engineers to rapidly develop, test, and evaluate agent workflows
- Experiment with models, custom harnesses, and coding-agent fleets to unlock unprecedented shipping speed
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and local development environments
- Build internal tooling that removes friction and improves developer productivity
- Own decisions around observability and debugging tooling that’ll help the engineering team build and ship AI products

Product Infra + Distributed Systems

- Build the infrastructure behind our real-time decision systems, operational AI, and closed-loop automation
- Solve distributed systems problems across durable execution, workflow orchestration, reliability, and performance
- Own and evolve the infrastructure behind increasingly complex AI products and workflows

Reliability + Scale

- Optimize cloud and AI infra costs through thoughtful engineering practices and pragmatic technical decisions
- Improve observability, debugging, and production reliability to enable scaling our products and customer base
- Partner closely with the rest of the team to solve infrastructure problems before they become bottlenecks

What We’re Looking For

Who You Are

- 3–6 years of engineering experience with meaningful ownership over infrastructure projects.
- Experience building infrastructure at a fast-growing startup or on a team responsible for building new systems from 0 to 1
- Someone who enjoys solving product-driven engineering problems through an infrastructure lens
- Comfortable moving across the stack when the problem calls for it
- Experience working in high-growth, high-ambiguity environments where priorities change quickly

Technical Excellence

- Strong infrastructure fundamentals across cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, networking, CI/CD, and observability
- Experience building production infrastructure that engineers and customers rely on
- Track record of owning infrastructure end-to-end, from design through production
- Strong engineering judgment. You know when to invest in architecture and when to optimize for speed.

- You optimize for impact over ownership boundaries. If the highest leverage problem isn’t strictly “infrastructure,” you’re happy to jump in.
- You prefer building new systems over maintaining mature ones
- You enjoy owning broad technical problems instead of specializing in one narrow area for years
- You optimize for business outcomes and ship accordingly
- In-office, 5 days a week in Manhattan. We believe the best engineering decisions happen when the team is building together.
