About this role

Who we are:

Tria Federal delivers digital services and technology solutions that support the health and safety of veterans, service members and civilians. For two decades, federal agencies have relied on Tria companies to advance their critical missions and modernize their systems, so that they can uphold their commitment to the American people. Today, we are pushing the boundaries of possibility through partnerships and investments in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, developing solutions for the biggest challenges that government will face tomorrow.

We are proud to employ and support military veterans who bring mission-first mindset, technical expertise, and leadership qualities that strengthen our work. Veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are strongly encouraged to apply.

Tria Federal is a premier middle-market technology services provider, delivering mission-critical digital transformation solutions to federal health and public safety agencies. With a future-forward vision and a mission rooted in service, Tria Federal bridges capability gaps to transform the business of government.

In November 2024, Tria Federal acquired Softrams, creating a federal health powerhouse. This strategic acquisition expanded Tria Federal's capabilities across five integrated service lines:

At Tria, we are a dynamic professional community driven by a mission rooted in service to colleagues, customers, and the community.

The Director, Information Technology is a senior leadership role responsible for the technology backbone of the company — the infrastructure, networks, device fleets, and support services that keep every employee and contractor productive and secure.

This individual runs IT as an enabler of the business: delivering fast, reliable, and secure technology services while giving the enterprise the agility to adopt new tools and ways of working. The role operates in close partnership with the Cloud Practice, which owns cloud environments for internal products, PoCs, and customer delivery as well as developer and engineering tooling, and with the Cyber Security Practice on corporate security.

The Director must bring equal strength in operational excellence, compliance rigor, vendor and financial management, and service leadership, with the judgment to balance innovation velocity against the security guardrails required to support work across some of the most demanding federal agencies.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & Network Operations

- Own the architecture, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise IT infrastructure, including networking across all company facilities, wireless, VPN and remote access, telephony, and conferencing environments

- Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of core corporate systems, with defined SLAs, monitoring, and disaster recovery / business continuity plans that are tested and current

- Manage identity and access infrastructure, including directory services, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and conditional access, in partnership with the Cyber Security Practice

- Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, office buildouts, and facility technology projects with minimal disruption to the business

- Standardize and automate infrastructure management wherever possible, reducing manual effort and improving consistency, auditability, and speed of change

Cloud & Engineering Platform Collaboration

- Partner with the Cloud Practice to jointly manage cloud environments spanning internal products, proofs of concept, and customer environments — with clearly defined ownership boundaries, shared operating procedures, and accountability

- Integrate corporate identity, access management, and security controls into cloud environments in coordination with the Cloud Practice, ensuring consistent authentication, least-privilege access, and auditability from endpoint to cloud

- Coordinate with the Cloud Practice on provisioning and lifecycle management for developer and engineering tooling — code repositories, CI/CD platforms, and AI tools for engineering teams — handling account management, licensing, and access governance while the Cloud Practice owns platform selection and operation

- Align cost visibility and subscription governance across corporate IT and cloud spend, giving leadership a unified view of technology investment

- Establish joint escalation, incident coordination, and change management practices with the Cloud Practice so issues that cross corporate and cloud boundaries are resolved quickly and cleanly

Helpdesk & Employee Enablement

- Lead the helpdesk team supporting all employees and contractors, setting service standards for responsiveness, resolution quality, and user experience across onsite, remote, and client-site work arrangements

- Own the full employee technology lifecycle — onboarding, provisioning, moves, role changes, and offboarding — ensuring new hires are productive on day one and departures are handled securely and completely

- Establish and track service metrics (ticket volume, time to resolution, satisfaction) and use them to drive continuous improvement, self-service, and automation of recurring requests

- Build a knowledge base, self-service tooling, and employee communications that reduce friction and raise baseline technology fluency across the company

- Serve as an escalation point for critical incidents affecting employee productivity, coordinating cross-functional response and clear stakeholder communication until resolution

Procurement, Vendor & Asset Management

- Manage procurement of end-user devices, peripherals, infrastructure hardware, and software subscriptions, balancing cost, standardization, security requirements, and user needs

- Manage multiple device fleets — MacBooks and Windows laptops — with standardized configuration baselines, MDM enrollment, patching, and security compliance maintained consistently across both platforms

- Own the full asset lifecycle — acquisition, imaging and configuration, tracking, refresh, and secure disposal — with accurate inventory across all fleets, facilities, and remote staff

- Rationalize and govern the SaaS and software subscription portfolio, eliminating redundancy, managing renewals proactively, and ensuring licensing compliance

- Negotiate and manage vendor and service provider relationships (carriers, ISPs, managed services, hardware and software suppliers), holding partners accountable to contracted service levels

- Develop and manage the IT budget with clear visibility into run costs versus investment, and a track record of finding efficiency without degrading service or security

Compliance, Certifications & Corporate Security

- Manage IT's role in achieving and maintaining the company's compliance posture and certifications relevant to federal contracting (e.g., CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, ISO 27001), including evidence collection, control implementation, and audit support

- Partner closely with the Cyber Security Practice to implement corporate security controls — endpoint protection, patching, encryption, secure configuration baselines, logging, and vulnerability remediation — across all corporate systems and devices

- Ensure corporate IT environments meet the security expectations of federal customers, including handling requirements for CUI and support for programs with elevated security demands

- Maintain and enforce IT policies (acceptable use, access control, data handling, BYOD, remote work) that are practical, clearly communicated, and consistently applied

- Support incident response for corporate IT events in coordination with the Cyber Security Practice, and drive post-incident improvements to controls and processes

Innovation Enablement & Agility

- Position IT as an accelerator, create fast, well-governed paths for teams to evaluate and adopt new tools, including AI-enabled productivity and collaboration platforms, within defined security guardrails

- Establish a lightweight technology intake and evaluation process  with clear criteria, sandbox environments, and pre-approved patterns for common needs

- Champion AI fluency in corporate operations, applying AI-assisted capabilities to IT service delivery itself (intelligent ticket routing, automated resolution, knowledge management) and enabling their responsible use across the enterprise

- Anticipate the technology needs of a growing federal contractor — new facilities, new contract environments, certifications, surge staffing — and build the flexibility to respond

- Continuously simplify: retire legacy systems, consolidate platforms, and remove friction so the technology environment stays modern, secure, and easy to support

People & Team Leadership

- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team spanning helpdesk, infrastructure, and IT operations, aligned to a service-first culture

- Foster a team culture grounded in ownership, responsiveness, and continuous learning, reflective of IT's role as the front door of technology for every employee

- Conduct regular one-on-one coaching and career development conversations, connecting individual growth goals to team priorities and company objectives

- Define skills and certification roadmaps that keep the team current across networking, endpoint management, cloud administration, and security fundamentals

- Build cross-training and documented procedures so service quality does not depend on any single individual

Required Qualifications

- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT roles spanning infrastructure, networking, service delivery, or IT operations

- 5+ years in a senior IT leadership capacity, including direct management of helpdesk or support functions and accountability for service levels

- Demonstrated experience managing multiple device fleets — macOS and Windows — at scale, including MDM platforms, configuration baselines, and cross-platform security compliance

- Demonstrated experience managing or co-managing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including identity and access integration, governance, and collaboration with engineering or cloud platform teams

- Hands-on expertise across enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, firewalls), endpoint management, and cloud productivity platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure AD)

- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks applicable to federal contractors — NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FISMA context, CMMI and CUI handling requirements — with experience implementing controls and supporting audits

- Demonstrated experience managing hardware and software procurement, SaaS portfolios, vendor contracts, and IT budgets

- Experience supporting a distributed workforce across multiple facilities, remote staff, and contractor populations

- Track record of improving IT service through automation, self-service, standardization, or ITSM best practices (e.g., ITIL)

- Excellent communication skills, equally effective with executives, technical staff, and non-technical employees, with a genuine service orientation

Preferred Qualifications

- One or more of the following certifications: ITIL, CISSP, Security+, CCNP, Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, or PMP

- Prior experience in a federal IT services or government contractor environment, including familiarity with customer security requirements and facility considerations

- Experience implementing zero trust principles in a corporate environment — conditional access, device compliance, least-privilege administration

- Experience with AI-assisted IT operations, service desk automation, or deploying AI productivity tools with appropriate governance

- Experience scaling IT through rapid company growth, office expansion, or organizational change

- Familiarity with corporate certifications and assessments such as CMMI, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or CMMC audit preparation
